“Wonderful experience”

We booked a night in a honeymoon suite at the Hotel Lagunita through Expedia for January 29, 2012, we also booked one for our friends who were with us. When we got to Yelapa, the gentleman at the front desk said he did not get our reservation from Expedia, but good thing, I had a copy of our confirmation. He apologized and said he only had 3 honeymoon suites and that they were all taken, but he would put us in very nice rooms. Now keep in mind that we paid extra for the honeymoon suites. He told us we would be credited. Turned out that the hotel bought us breakfast the next morning, which did not cover the extra we had paid for the suites. The rooms are very rustic, just what we expected after doing our research on tripadvisor. It was very cool, there were windows with no glass, some rooms had shutters, ours had a curtain on a string. I am glad we did it, it was a nice experience, would I do it again, not here.

Room Tip: Call directly to the hotel to book your room.

“3 day honeymoon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed at Hotel Lagunita half way through our honeymoon/vacation to nuevo. I will say it is a different experience and we did enjoy it.The only thing we did book a honeymoon package that was about $40.00 US more than other rooms and did not even recieve a drink or anything extra. I did not understand what the honeymoon package was. We ate at the hotel twice one night at the bar and the bartender gave us good service. The other time was only because all the beach restaurants were closed and we did not feel like walking back into the village. We would have eaten there more but the female staff was extremely rude. I would have said something but the owner was only there the first day and then we did not see him again.
The rooms are fun a different experience, I feel 3 days was a long enough stay. It is a beautiful fishing cove and the views are spectacular.

Room Tip: My husband had a massage and the woman was very nice and did a wonderful job, she is not part of the...

“Sunny Christmas in Lagunita!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We came to Mexico to escape the coldness of Finland during the Christmas time 2011 and stayed in Hotel Lagunita for a week. We are a family of 5 so we stayed in a big house shared in two separate rooms and had a great view over the beach, village and the ocean. The rooms were already a bit scuffed, but they were kept very clean during our whole stay. We faced some difficulties with the airlines on our way to Yelapa but the hotel staff was very helpfull and understanding towards us, thank you for them! The location of the hotel was great and within walking distance from the village. We did small hikes to the waterfalls and enjoyed the great food and sunshine. We can also warmly recommend the whale watching and snorkeling trip booked through the hotel!

“Constantly craving their food, hospitality, and ambiance.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Choosing Hotel Lagunita as our wedding venue was an easy choice. Our guests did not want to leave and are now planning their next trip back! We had a good mix of guests (25 people), ranging from beauty queens to boy scouts. Hotel Lagunita accommodates all kinds! It was rustic enough for the adventurous, with the comforts of home to suit those uneasy travelers. Be ready for a slower pace than Vallarta, you may have to wait for your room. This is not a fault of the hotel, but the inability for travelers to admit it's time to go. The service at the restaurant is fast, always there when you need them, and never when you don't. They give you space to enjoy your meal and drinks from the beach. We've had 3 visits to Yelapa and feel that although the food in the village is fabulous, there really is no reason to leave Lagunita! Fair prices, good portions. Our favorites include the ceviche, burritos, pasta dishes... oh and their chili rellano? BEST I'VE EVER HAD! The staff is helpful and will give you good adivce on how to best spend your time in Yelapa. They also provide great service in helping you get your bags to your rooms and to and from the pier.

Room Tip: Some Ocean View rooms may share an open-type roof with the neighbouring palapa. The honeymoon suites...

“Dream Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I absolutely love Hotel Lagunita. Luke and the others will make every effort to make you feel comfortable and cared for. After your boat ride from Puerta Vallarta (Yelapa is only accesible by boat) you will be welcomed and led to your Palapa covered room. You can see the ocean and hear it as the waves move in and out. Fantastic food too! The town is an authentic Mexican town where the people are friendly and warm. I love watching the kids walk to and from school. Yelapa is a magical place and Hotel Lagunita is just the right place to stay.

Room Tip: Depends on what you like. Right on the beach, or above it. If you want to be right on the beach, 4 a...
