“Lovely again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed here for a weekend. Upgraded our room to a superior with golf view and balcony. Was a lovely room however it was a bit dark. The rooms could do with a facelift as we used to stay here years ago when it was DeVere and its the same furniture etc.

Ate in both the carvery and the new restaurant that was the French. Im not sure i would eat in there again. I used to enjoy the French Restaurant. The carvery has loads of choice. Breakfasts were good too.

The spa here is brilliant. Esp the Fire and Ice. I also had some treatments but you do have to book in advance (weeks)!

Would definately return again.

“Good for golfers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012 via mobile

As a non-golfer, a conference at the Belfry didn't mean much to me. I'm told the course is fantastic and it is certainly a lovely setting. The hotel itself is a little confused. Set in modern buildings but attempting to look like a Victorian country club the public areas are reasonably good. The bedrooms, however, are a little tired and need updating. Facilities within the rooms are adequate and I'm sure were impressive in the 80s. Breakfast was good and the hot and cold buffets provided all the usual fare. I would suggest that for golfers this hotel would be quite something. For the rest of us, it is possIble to get much better for the money

“Nice resort poor rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The overall feel of the facilities is good - staff are friendly in a well trained sort of way and there is a good choice of bars and restaurants. Rooms are shabby and dated though ( this was my second stay). A 21" huge box TV is not good enough for the price and Internet at £15 a day is just unacceptable in the 21st Century. Wifi only available in some of the public areas and free only because I was on a conference. The resort must exist for its conference market - it was very busy the 3 nights I was there. However, there's no way I'd choose to stay here as a paying guest purely due to the poor room facilities and the internet issue.

Room Tip: Stay away from the housekeeping stores - very noisy from 7am

“Excellent hotel, don't listen to moaners!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

My partner booked a night at this hotel as we were invited to a function charity event. As always I checked Trip Advisor and, had I looked beforehand I would never had stayed here down to the reviews! We didn't know what to expect.

I usually only post on here for holidays and not odd night stays. I have stayed in many hotels from the Raddison, Hilton, McDonald hotels etc, all 4 - 5 stars. I am also a business owner who eats in quality restaurants. I can only recommend this highly!

I just don't get the bad reviews on this hotel from guests. I can't fault it in any way! I looked at every area where the complaints had evolved from but I could not find a anything dis- pleasing. Rooms were great, modern, clean, ok no LCD / Plasma TV but who cares? The Tv was presented inside a solid wood cabinet with Tea making facilities. The wood cabinet would probably cost the price of a 50" plasma TV, it was very traditionally, polished, hotelier quality.

The food was delicious and very well presented, service was delivered as high as it should be. If the manager reads this I would like you to thank your staff. We ate in the bar during the day, during the function evening and at the Atrium for breakfast and we were always greeted with a welcome and served to a 5 star standard. There was lots of food available at breakfast and it was very well presented, they even presented the bacon in a way I had never seen. A lot of thought had gone into delivering presentation to a high standard and there was never a big queue.

Please book to stay here, its hard enough running a business during these times but to listen to the complaints from people which, I think is totally unreasonable is beyond me. This is a 4 star hotel, however the hotel could easily pass for higher.

One comment was Faulty Towers. Ey? Think they must be blind!

“Afternoon Tea in a hive of lap tops and forlorn staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My Girlfriend and I were passing and due to a previous visit I said this would be a nice place to experience a good lunch. The surroundings were grand and in general we had a nice time with excellent food but the atmosphere wasn't warming and the staff looked so forlorn. My partner even asked one on the members of staff if this was a nice place to work!!! The response was yes, as it should be, but whether or not we caught them at a bad time or not but they all looked and came across as slightly miserable. We live in a competitive world and I'd suggest that the management train their staff to stay ahead of the competition, and get them to smile please.
