“Not that bad.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Staff were very helpful and polite. Room was pleasant enough and clean although looking slightly tired was certainly good enough for an overnight stay. Bed was comfy and linen was clean as were the toweling. Only one towel but more are available at request so no problem. Only gripe was room was cold at start but electric heater did the trick.

Really for the price can't complain, good nights sleep.

“VERY cheap, for very good reasons....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Booked it online two days ahead - a great deal at £19.50 for the one night

No directions or map on the Travelodge email, just a postcode and an unclear address (eg A45), and if you have a silly built-in sat-nav that doesn't do postcodes you might have big probems finding the property

Staff friendly and helpful, hotel VERY tired and not very functional

Very difficult to find anything to eat nearby (it IS next to a Little Chef, but this was shut!)

Room was clean, but the sofa was quite stained

Linen was clean, but bed was very lumpy, just one tiny pillow.....

Bathroom is TERRIBLE
* the shower is pitiful - you will get wetter standing out in the rain (I did!)
* bath is so shallow it did not even cover my legs! (see photo)
* one pitiful, very old, very thin, towel (no chance of that one being stolen....)
* one very small piece of really nasty cheap soap

Good news:
Cheap!
Staff were very willing to help, but the advice they gave me re: local takeaways was wrong... (eg the fish & chip shop was shut before 10pm, though I was assured it should stay open on a weekday until 11pm)
Very quiet

Bad news:
Horrible
Nothing to eat
Some tosser in a builder's van had parked in one of the disabled parking spaces....

I've given it two stars (not one) as it was SO CHEAP! (but then again, you are not getting a special travelodge deal, you are just getting what you pay for)

Room Tip: Book early so that you can get a good deal with A DIFFERENT HOTEL

“Cold and Damp”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I took advantage of the special offer that Travelodge run if you book over 6 weeks out, however this low price should not affect the quality. We stayed in a family room as we planned to take one of our grand children with us, but in the end there were only the 2 of us. When we arrived late afternoon we were given our key and we made our way upstairs to the room to dump our bags before heading to meet our son. When we opened the room a cold damp feeling hit us (the electric heater was off and the window open slightly) they knew we were coming some 6 weeks so we should have expected at least the heating on. I turned the heating on and headed over to my sons place for dinner, after a warm up and dinner we returned to our now warm room and then found there were only 2 pillows and one towel for us to use, it was late so we made do. I left the cleaner a note in the morning and an extra towel and pillow was left, however no milk for our tea was left. The hotel is old (80's) and furniture was tied but you can deal with this but there is no excuses for cold damp rooms on arrival with lack of pillows / Towels and cleaners not restocking tea making facilities etc.

Room Tip: Try Travellodge next to Rugby Station it is only a year or so old
