“Very cheap, very shabby, nice staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

We arrived around 7.30pm to a packed carpark and discovered later it was the £3.50 carvery which was the big attraction,
Reception was locked but the intercom connected us to the bar/restaurant and after a few minutes some came and booked us in.Judging by the full car park I asked should we book for dinner which is when we found out about the £3.50 carvery and its popularity!
I asked the gentleman to reserve us a table and to ring us in our room when it was available.
The Hotel is a 60's style motel, very very run down, our room although clean was very shabby. Whilst the actual sanitary wear was clean we could not bring ourselves to use the bath /shower as the sealant around the bath and behind the taps and handles was thick with black slimey mould. There were holes in the wall and peeling wall paper.
After about 40 minutes our table was ready, so we went over to the dining room for the carvery, which surprisingly was not that bad and certainly good value . The staff were very attentive and fast despite the restaurant being packed.
After a sleepless night on what felt like a bag of horse shoes we looked forward to our breakfast, especially the vegetarian breakfast shown in the room folder. Sadly there were no vegetarian sausages available but they managed to put together a huge meat free breakfast for my husband and the usual eggs and bacon for me all cooked to order from a huge choice. On booking out the charming lady who served us breakfast was looking after the reception, she asked if there was anything which would have made our stay better! I did say the hotel is very shabby but very cheap which we took in to consideration but the state of the bathroom and mattress was unacceptable. She and the house keeper were very apologetic and said we should have complained about the uncomfortable bed as there were some rooms with new mattresses(in truth the mattress wasn't old just very very cheap) but thats a bit hard to do at 11pm in your nightwear.
The whole complex needs a huge makeover and refurbishment which I doubt they would get the return on in these days of Travel Lodges and Premier Inns.
I'm afraid the other reviews are correct, which is a shame because the staff try very hard.

“You get what you pay for”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010 via mobile

Stayed for one night whilst on a visit to see family in Nuneaton. Granted the place doesn't look the best from the outside, but inside the rooms are ok. It was £25 for a night, you can't expect the Ritz for that price. It did it's job for half the price of a Travel Lodge.

“Just awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

I booked this mainly because it was cheap and because it was not far from the F1 where we were going. As soon as we arrived my husband started complaining as it was in bad disrepair. The receptionist was lovely and did tell us about a large fishing party that had arrived.
We got to our room and my heart just sank.It was stuffy and hot and very noisey due to the main road outside the window. The ceiling was wallpapered and the paper was coming off.The whole room was just dirty and shabby and I would advise anyone not to go there.
We went out after 2 hours for sinner in hinkley and were lucky enough to get a room in the premier inn with full breakfast for just £10 more than what we paid along the road..
I will wait and see if i get any response from booking.com about this awful place.

“Not cheap but nasty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

Group booking for two nights at full price. Was very annoyed that we were given a Z-bed for the second person in what was supposed to be a twin occupancy room. A Z-bed is offered as a freebie for a child. The receptionist was not very helpful an eventually a duty manager offered an alternate room. If we had booked late, I could understand the lack of choice of rooms, but we had booked well in advance and paid full price for two nights.
On the up-side, the pub has an excellent carvery and is very reasonably priced.
This is a very basic and dated MOTEL, so It is not a place to take a loved one to for a holiday.
The room had not been cleaned very well before our arrival ( approx 5pm) as there was underwear left by the previous occupants left behind on the bathroom door.
Definately one to book late and put up with for a one night stay.

“Never Again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2009

When I arrived there was noone to greet me. The Manager on duty watched me carry the heaviest bag ever and didn't even offer to assist. Rushed me through check in and mumbled about the location of my room. When I asked him to show me, hoping he would assist with the bag, he pointed in a random direction and started dialling the telephone.

On entering the room, it was dark and dirty. The cups were dusty inside and I had to wash them. There were cobwebs on the ceiling and the bathroom was old and not especially clean.

The menu was carvery or basic with nothing healthy available. When I asked what time breakfast was I was told 'I dunno' probably about 7am.

The breakfast service was very good and very friendly and run by an older team who were a delight and couldn't do enough for you. One young waitress was also very helpful and friendly.

The rest of the team were unfriendly, unprofessional and unapproachable. When I complained about my room and the dirty cups I was told to put it in writing. No discount was offered and when I mentioned this, the older female receptionist without even raising her head muttered 'as I said, put it in writing'. I have advised my company never to send another member of staff there again.
