“Functional but in need of a facelift”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2012

I enjoyed my 2 night business stay here. The room was large and comfortable with a good bathroom but it was tired. Damaged paintwork, dated sanitary ware and worn carpets showed that the accomodation side needed a facelift. However, I slept well, had excellent breakfasts and found the bar a relaxing place despite the constant splashing of the internalised water mill. There is an ancient inn 100m up the road selling a good beer selection and offering greater breadth to the hotel menu.

“Definitely not run of the mill”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2012

We stayed at the Millers for the weekend and found the hotel to be first rate. The rooms were clean and tidy and the pub and restaurant very clean and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful all in all I couldn't really fault it.We have stayed at a large number of Olde English Inns and would say without doubt that this was one of the better ones. You really need a car if you visit this hotel as it is in a very rural location, unlike others in the chain which are situated in a town. As to the traffic noise that has been mentioned,it certainly didn't effect us, yes a few cars drove past the building during the night but they certainly wasn't noisy, the double glazing kept the majority of noise out. If you are still worried then get a room at the back although it overlooks the car park it is very quiet. If you fancy a change then pop down to 'The Cock Inn' which is just down the road it was built in 1250 and Dick Turpin used to stay there. The drinks and food are more expensive there and not really any better, it was just nice to visit somewhere else. I would have no doubts about recommending this place for a very pleasant weekend away.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter.

“Great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2012

We stayed a night at Millers as part of a short break over the Easter weekend. We booked in advance and paid a mere £30 for a double room and breakfast. I have to say that this was tremendous value for money.

From the moment we checked in until the moment we left the staff were brilliant. We were checked in promptly and went up to the room. The room did feel a bit dated, but was well equipt. Two slight problems we had with the room were that it would have been nice to have a shower screen not a curtain, also there was only one bed side lamp which wasn't great for night/early morning reading while one of us was asleep. Minor things though that could be easily changed.

In the evening we dined in the pub itself. It is one of the most picturesque pubs I have visited. The bar is oak panelled and even has a working waterwheel in the middle of it. Again the service from the barmaid was great and prompt. Furthermore we were impressed by the extent of the menu and the quality of the food when it arrived. For under £40 we had a sharing starter, a main each, desert and drinks. It certainly isn't the most expensive pub food we've ever had and was worth the money.

The quality of the food at breakfast also impressed. The waitress seemed rushed off her feet so we did have to wait about 15 minutes to order, but there was the continental buffet to keep us going while we waited. The buffet has a good selection of pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and juices. You also got a choice of about half a dozen cooked options.

Despite the dated interior of the room, the rest of the experience did not disappoint. Our stay was great value for money and we would definately visit again.

“dissapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2012

i took my mother, mother and father in law and wife to the millers in sibson for a mothers day sunday lunch. We had to wait in the bar first for some strange reason and 5 minutes after we were settled in there with drinks we were asked to go into the only half full restaurant carrying drinks with us, so why the wait in the bar ? 40 minutes after ordering we got the main course which was at best mediocre, i had beef but there was not much of it and it was thin sliced like it had been purchased from the deli counter at asda and the yorkshire pudding was just lukewarm in the middle. The roast potatoes were very hot so it would appear that the rest of the food had been sitting around for a while. my mother in law complained that the food was not hot but the waiter just apologised and hurried away. The dessert was very good tho so some points scored back. I had to ask twice for the bill then lost my cool completely when i was being ignored again and started shouting at the waiter to take my money (apologies to him ) but he got the message. All in all a let down, use the cock inn opposite, costs more but well worth it.

Room Tip: only had dinner here
