We have just returned home after staying in South Sheilds for the for the occasion of a relatives wedding. I travelled north along with my eldest daughter and her friend who are both in their mid 20s. The Walkerville is situated on Ocean Road which is more like an Avenue with all the lovely trees that line the pavements. There must be a dozen or more hotels or guesthouses dotted along Ocean Road and the majority all look very inviting from the well kept frontages. We arrived at 8pm to be greated by Brian who owns the property along with his wife. From that moment onwards we knew that we had made the right choice. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very cosey. I had a single room and my daughter and her friend shared a double room. Both were of a very high standard and perfect for all our needs. We had a fish and chip supper that evening from one of the many eateries dotted along Ocean Road. You are actually spoilt for choice when it comes to dining out with so many choices on offer. Despite the fact that you are so near these restaurants the noise level is very low. We all had a lovely nights sleep and the following morning we set ourselves up for the day with a nice English breakfast plus all the other extras including cereal, toast and lots of lovely fresh coffee. I am certain Brian and Lynne would be able to satisy the most hungry of them all with there lovely food. Throughout the rest of our stay we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for this lovely couple. They both work very hard to make sure that the guests enjoy their time at the Walkerville and i would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this Guesthouse to any of my friends or family. It is ideally situated just a stones throw from the seafront where there is an abundance of activities for young and old alike. There is ample free parking in the ajoining street which is right next to one of many beautiful parks located nearby. Before we left for home on the Sunday Brian showed me the family rooms for future reference. They were both really spacious and again spotless and had a lovely warm feel about them.
My advice to anyone visiting South Sheilds would be that if you are looking for somewhere which is clean, homely and very relaxing then give this place a try.
