My stay at the Liongate was comfortable, and the staff friendly and very accommodating. I ended up returning for a second night. I enjoyed sitting in the quiet bar area in the evening, and the pretty breakfast room in the morning. The location is ideal for visiting Hampton Court palace; taking a walk or jog through the palace gardens and along the pretty Thames Bargeway. The train station is an easy walking distance. I'm surprised at the negative comments I'm seeing on this hotel. I didn't see them before staying there, and they don't reflect my experience at all. I would stay there again.

My partner and i were staying at the liongate hotel for a surprise party, however when we arrived it was us who had the surprise. We waited 20 minutes before we saw any member of staff to check us in. We had driven 3 hours to get here and she thought it was funny that we were cross & that there was no one to meet and greet us upon arival. She gave us the key to our room it was horrible it was dirty, uncleen, very hot, very noisy, the lights were not working, the tv was very old and had no battries in the tv control. The food at the party was a joke. I would of rarther of stayed in the car, it spoiled the whole evening, thank god it was only for one night. I complained to the manager about the condition of the hotel and that it was in destrate need of a face lift and bringing it up to date with a moden twist. I refused to pay and with no hesitation after the night stay he said we could leeve with out paying. What does that tell you?

This hotel is in a prime position, but is awful inside. I had a long journey to reach this hotel and only arrived after 8pm so all I wanted was to unpack and relax. The first bedroom I was shown was shabby , the lampshades were all burnt. The door was flimsy and the bathroom had seen better days. I refused this room and asked to see others. All pretty much as bad as each other. I checked out as I did not trust the electrics nor the general security of the hotel. I would rather have slept in my car
The hotel has the feeling of a badly cared for hostel.

I booked this hotel by default as I couldn't get a place in Twickenham (its a long story; this is ten mins drive from Twickenham) but now having read the reviews on here I don't really recognise the place i stayed at. My overall rating would be fine to good. Maybe they have updated and refurbed since some were written? We were in room number 8, 3rd floor facing the park at the back - Bushy Park with the fountain - and it was fine. I suppose the doorlocks and old tv are dated but i don't care. Room, bedding and bed were great and new and fresh and clean and cozy, and bathroom modern and nice. The staff were without exception smiling and polite and helpful. Breakfast service was great although yes the bacon and beans looked like they'd been around for a bit but breakfast started at 8 and we were there at 10.30. They may just need to throw stuff out sooner than they do and not hang onto it like it seemed they did. Maybe it was just a problem that day but it wasn't the end of the world and I didn't complain and never thought to. Nice big spacious breakfast room with wood floors. I suppose you are partly paying for the location next to Bushy Park and across the road from Hampton Court Palace grounds. Lovely for walks. So our room certainly was great and we enjoyed it here and would come again.
