“Fantastic Sunday evening spent relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We went on a late Sunday in January for my birthday for the 5pm to 9.45pm session that includes dinner. My wife wanted a massage and the only time available was 4.30pm but they were more than happy to let me start using the facilities early while she had what she said was a superb massage. Being a Sunday evening in January, it was very quiet, maybe 20 guests in total, so I usually had facilities to myself. I had a bit of a hangover from a party I'd been to the night before but 5 minutes in the hydro pool and I was already feeling much better! Then I enjoyed the steam room and later had a nice swim and more time in the hydro pool. We then had a lovely dinner - yes the portions are small, but its quality over quantity and this is a health spa afterall! There's also free fruit available with the free tea all day so you can tuck into that if still hungry.

The only slight issues:

My wife reporting that a male cleaner entered the ladies changing room area while she and another lady were changing - and rather than apologise and quickly leave, he stood there staring for a moment! Very unprofessional and Im surprised they would even ask a male member of staff to clean the ladies changing area.

And, the pool and jacuzzi are so far away from the steam room and sauna, so you have to get dried off, change from swimmers to robe, walk all the way to the other side of the building (quite a cold coridoor too!) before getting into the steam room or sauna. It'd be nice if they were positioned by the pool area, but I guess its difficult as they have separate steam and sauna for men and women (I assume to allow customers to use them naked - signs clarifying what is acceptable or not would have been useful, but as I was by myself I did strip off).

Anyway we used Tesco clubcard points to pay for the evening so thats worth bearing in mind if you are worried about the cost, but were delighted and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We didn't stay overnight, not sure its necessary really.

“A perfect stay, pure relaxation & 5* customer service”

I stayed last Friday & Saturday night. Arrived 2.30pm on Friday and was given a tour of the spa, whilst they wheeled my luggage around. I was shown to my room & found it clean with everything I needed, great view, TV & DVD (not latest models) but it did the job.

The meals were lovely and the staff were very helpful -when I asked at the first meal which items had dairy in them (I'm allergic) they kindly showed me...and I didn't have to ask again, every meal they remembered and offered me alternatives if I preferred.

When changing some treatment appointments, the lady was so helpful and accomodated my every wish.

I loved every minute of my stay, I felt peaceful, relaxed and truly looked after. I'm already dreaming of going back.

Room Tip: Orchard rooms are quiet and I had a good view

“Relaxing time - room for improvement”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Went with three of my friends to get away from the kids and be pampered. The main hotel areas were lovely, very comfortable and very relaxed. The staff member who showed us around was friendly if a bit eccentric!!

Our rooms were a little disappointing as one of my friends wanted a bath and I hadn't checked what a standard room contains so my fault really. But I have never been to a hotel which does not have a bath as standard in their rooms - especially a place which is firstly a spa for relaxing. The rooms were also very cold - heater was up to max but I suppose that it was a very cold weekend. The showers weren't very good either. My friends moved rooms because their's was just a trickle. Even the showers in the treatment rooms weren't very good. The receptionist did say that they were having work done so might have effected the pressure - perhaps a forewarning would have been better?

My treatments were wonderful had a luxury facial and body scrub. Really nice therapists. Unfortunately one of my friends had a bad experience - her massage was wrongly booked as facial though she had changed it on arrival and thought everything had been sorted - the therapist turned up and thought she was still having facial. When she got the massage it only lasted 10-15mins!! But all credit to Grayshott when she complained another treatment was booked for her and it was much better.

Food there was lovely - really great combinations and nicely prepared. I wish that it hadn't snowed the night we were there as it meant we didn't get an opportunity to explore the grounds although the hotel was extremely picturesque!!

All in all a good experience - could have been great - just wish the bedrooms were a bit more luxurious and lived up to the main areas of the hotel. You do not get quite what you pay for unfortunately. Although I would probably go again if there was a good deal on!

Room Tip: I would upgrade - but then it would make it very expensive.

“Awful customer service”

I am only reviewing the customer service for this spa because it has been so bad I will be booking another spa instead. I purchased a Grayshott spa day as a gift for my wife but the customer service has been awful and I wouldn't recommend. I should have realised when I received the shoddy word document gift voucher by email. You would expect taking bookings would be the simplest task of the whole operation but they even fail at this. They have been completely unable to handle simple tasks such as treatment bookings, never call back when they say they do and you are never able to speak to the same person. You'd need a spa day just to recover from the experience.

“Grayshott Spa is lovely!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I am a regular visitor to Grayshott Spa. It is just what I want from a Spa. The pool is great. The rooms are OK. I think the best rooms are obviously in the old `manor house but the other ordinary rooms are Ok too. Spacious bedroom, small bathroom. Some of the bathrooms need a bit of attention. The lack of a mobile phone signal drives me mad! Most therapists are very good. I have had massage, facials, lymphatic stimulation, manicures and pedicures (only ok these), just about everything. The therapy rooms are all nice, if small. The spa consists of a steam room and a sauna which is a little paltry these days but adequate.

Room Tip: rooms in the Manor House are the best and most expensive!
