“Cheap”

Cheap is the best I have to say about this place - in terms of the accommodation anyway. Rooms fairly unpleasant, but you get what you pay for.

We had paid for breakfast and, having checked that we could upgrade our inclusive continental breakfast to a full english - one pound extra on the menu - we did. When I came to settle up for all of us we were charged the full whack; over £20. Despite pointing out the absurdity of the situation, and the previous conversation we were totally stonewalled by the young woman apparently running the restaurant, who had been cold and unattentive throughout. She was adamant that we had not had the breakfast we'd paid for with the room, therefore we had to pay for a separate breakfast.

Unwilling to be ripped off we demanded the inclusive breakfast too, thinking she'd spot the absurdity of the situation and back down. She didn't, so we then ate a second breakfast to make the point.

A ludicrous situation that made us feel horribly ripped off. The low-quality rooms would have been acceptable for the price; the terrible service ensured that we'd always remember The Bridge for all the wrong reasons.

I would like to respond to this comment.

Firstly im interested to see that this traveller stayed with us in July 2011, and yet writes so negatively in November 2011.

Secondly, Continental breakfast only is included in the cost of a stay, this is stated very clearly on all booking facilities, there is NO opportunity to upgrade to a full English for a pound, if a guest would like to purchase a breakfast they are able to do this but will be charged for it at 7.95 which includes tea or coffee, so again im not sure why you claim you were charge 20.00 when they are priced at 7.95 each, unless of course you had more items added to your bill.

For you to order full English and then not to expect to pay for them is rather absurd.....i would also like to say to then go on to eat a 2nd breakfast for free is equally absurd but yes your choice, and you certainly would of received value for money!

As the manager's you didn't complain to us at the time and we would of appreciated your comments at the time of your stay rather than placing it on the internet, but again this is your choice.

The rooms are the cheapest in the area, for 49.50 for a single room which includes an extensive continental breakfast is very good value for money and im sorry that you didn't think so.

If you would like to discuss this further do give us a call where we would be happy to help

“Does a good job - tries hard to please”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Friendly place. I stayed in a single room which was OK for a short stay. Quite noisy with fans from other bathrooms and an owl outside my window! Free Wifi a definite bonus (and new TV). Decor a bit tired. I had no choice of room cos it was full which says something.....

“Fantastic little place, wonderful friendly, helpful staff...needs touch ups”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

I stayed at the bridge for 6nights, and found it very pleasant. The room was spacious, and clean....no complaints at all....the only thing I will say is that things do need refurbishing....ie the carpets and furniture etc. But for such good value I can't complain....I had everything I needed and the bed was sooo comfy!! Thank u staff and management at the bridge for making my stay so comfortable x

“Friendly welcome and great value for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We were a little worried by some of the negative reviews but chose to stay at The Bridge at Pierrepont as it seemed such good value for the price. We were attending a wedding locally and arrived a little earlier than check-in but received a very friendly welcome by the manager Martin and were shown straight to a very large room with flat screen freeview tv and tea/coffee making facilities. It is true the room was a little tired and could do with updating but it was clean and comfortable - perfect for the price. Any queries or issues we had were instantly and politely dealt with, perfect customer service.

The breakfast in the morning was good, you had to pay extra for a cooked breakfast but to be honest the continental breakfast was great (and much healthier!) fresh fruit (not tinned like in some places!), cereal, croissants, toast, fruit juices, lovely. One tip - don't leave before having a wander over to the Great Pond; there is a huge lake (sailing boats out on the day we were there) with a sandy beach (yes, a beach!) about 20 mins walk away through beautiful heathland, well worth the walk.

All in all, a friendly family run hotel that offers excellent value in a beautiful location. Would happily stay there again if we were in the area.

“Cheap and cheerful”

If you want a Premier Inn go and stay there for the same price, if you want something better you will have to pay more. If you want a room that is clean and functional this hotel provides it. My room (8) had a flat screen TV but 1970’s bathroom suite and furnishings. The shower curtain was in need of replacement as was all of the furniture. But for £55 a night for a double you really can’t go wrong. The staff were very friendly and polite. I went to a wedding nearby and would have had to pay double elsewhere. The £100+ I have saved was definitely worth it, don’t expect the Ritz and you will not regret it.

Room Tip: Spend £9 and have the full english. Worth the price and great quality.
