The service from the bar staff was unfriendly and slow, the food service was extremely slow and the staff inexperienced. We asked for a mince pie without brandy butter for one of our party who is dairy intolerant but the waitress did not come back to either bring one or tell us why she couldnt. We sat with dirty plates after our food for at least an hour, then had to ask for plates for our mince pies which we had to dry ourselves. For the price, £14 per head, the quality of the food was average. We questioned the cost and managed to get a reduction and some money off vouchers for burgers but doubt that any will be used. Good atmosphere in the bar though and good for smokers.

The food was excellent and the speed and quality of service could not be faulted. The burgers were good. The burger with the chillies is defnitely hot!!


We are early evening and had a good time

I would not reccomend this hotel. It was quite frankly disgusting. The stairs leading to the rooms were filthy and stank of dog. The rooms were freezing and one room out of my party had a hole in the wall! The landlord is one of the rudest I have ever met, it was an effort for him to come downstairts in order for us to pay for the over priced rooms of £60, this is a total rip off, Breakfast is not included. I would not stay here again even if you paid me!

Had dinner at the 'home of the gourmet burger' with my wwife and friends, and although the meal was okay it was not great considering the price. For burger and chips I would not mind paying £10-12 if it lived up to the billing but it was little more than average and hardly gourmet. The thing that let this meal down more than anything was the service. Firstly, my wife asked for her burger to be without cheese as she has a dairy allergy, and when our food arrived after about 45 minutes the first thing we noiticed was the cheese on my wife's burger. As we had other friends joining us later my wife felt she could not send the burger back as we didn't have the time, and proceeded to try and eat round the cheese. We stayed all evening and did have a good time, but this was really down to who we were with rather than the efforts of the staff to make sure thier patrons have a good evening. Considering the place could do with a lick of paint and the staff couldn't really give a monkeysthey do well to charge wwhat they do, and probably take advantage of the fact that the pub/hotel is next to a mainline station to London
