“Awful rooms and very rude landlord with attitude problem”

I would not reccomend this hotel. It was quite frankly disgusting. The stairs leading to the rooms were filthy and stank of dog. The rooms were freezing and one room out of my party had a hole in the wall! The landlord is one of the rudest I have ever met, it was an effort for him to come downstairts in order for us to pay for the over priced rooms of £60, this is a total rip off, Breakfast is not included. I would not stay here again even if you paid me!

Room Tip: Do not even think about staying here

“such a shame!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Had dinner at the 'home of the gourmet burger' with my wwife and friends, and although the meal was okay it was not great considering the price. For burger and chips I would not mind paying £10-12 if it lived up to the billing but it was little more than average and hardly gourmet. The thing that let this meal down more than anything was the service. Firstly, my wife asked for her burger to be without cheese as she has a dairy allergy, and when our food arrived after about 45 minutes the first thing we noiticed was the cheese on my wife's burger. As we had other friends joining us later my wife felt she could not send the burger back as we didn't have the time, and proceeded to try and eat round the cheese. We stayed all evening and did have a good time, but this was really down to who we were with rather than the efforts of the staff to make sure thier patrons have a good evening. Considering the place could do with a lick of paint and the staff couldn't really give a monkeysthey do well to charge wwhat they do, and probably take advantage of the fact that the pub/hotel is next to a mainline station to London

Was very pleased with the overall service, food and accommodation. Everything was of a high standard, enjoyed the company of the bar staff and the managers. it offers a good quality accommodation at a very reasonable cost in a traditional setting very close to the station.

“Unwelcoming, overpriced tacky, horrible food - avoid at all costs.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

I stayed at the Mulberry in march 2011 while I was taking a course at squires kitchen, and I honestly have not had a worst experience at a hotel in my life.
I am registered disabled and they had no access to get to the room apart from the stairs even though we had pre warned them that I struggled with stairs. They assured us that it would be okay but despite this I had to walk up the stairs.
To start with I struggled to contact the mulberry as they do not answer the phones. There is no hotel reception area, just the bar, and as a single women I found it intimidating.
The room was cold, and throughout the night it was very noisy which meant i did not have a good night sleep at all. They advertise that they are famous for their burger which I ordered in the evening of my stay and it came uncooked!! The only thing they must be famous for with that burger is that its disgusting!
The staff were unwelcoming and rude. When we challenged the price of the hotel the next day (which I felt was very overpriced for how awful it was, I wouldn't even pay £1 let alone £60) they were extremely rude and the lady we were talking through got very aggressive.

I do not think that the review below headed 'avoid this place like the plague' is at all harsh, they are spot on.

If anyone is looking for a nice hotel to stay in Farnham I would recommend 'farnham house hotel' which is where I stayed when I did another course at squires kitchen recently. It was the same price as the mulberry and is 100% better.

“Great pub, great atmosphere and wicked service...would stay there again!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

I went to stay at the Mulberry for three nights in August as I was visiting some friends in Farnham. I wanted a hotel that was affordable, convenient for public transport and with a good atmosphere for nights with my mates. I was not disappointed. The Muberry was a one minute walk from the station and as soon as I arrived I was met by friendly staff and a lively atmosphere in the bar. I was shown to my room and although it was by no means the Ritz the accomodation was clean and comfortable. My room was a good size, had a double bed, ensuite, plenty of clean towels and a trendy London feel. I ate in the restaurant and was really surprised by the quality of the food and the friendly service I received. Admittedly, the lively atmosphere did mean that the noise from the bar and the music did filter into the room, but I knew I was booking a room above a pub by a road that led to the excellently located train station so I did not expect the sound of birdsong and a country breeze to lure me to sleep. I would definitely recomment the Mulberry to friends and family due to the hospitality and comfort of my stay. I also had a great evening, listened to a great band and made some new friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not overlooking the busy pub garden.
