“Mixed blessings”

We finally stayed here after living next to this hotel for 7 years, in november last year, and went again to stay here this year. However despite the rooms being pleasant and the food good,(we stayed in a suite for 8 days) I have to agree that my stay was affected by the plumbing! No hot water and had to use another room to shower in! However, this can happen, but it was the service given by some of the staff that let the hotel down. There are some who work in this hotel who are caring and kind and make the effort, however there seems to be another shift that is frankly rude and unhelpful, this affected our stay and when we went back to rebook these staff were again rude and unhelpful, so we did not book again.
Its a shame that service, which is the most easy to fix, has lowered this hotels review.

Room Tip: Try the new part of the hotel for working hot water, try the suites in the courtyard for space.

“I like this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I stay at this hotel somewhere between 10 and 20 nights a year as it's our company's preferred hotel close to Farnborough airport.

Lets start with the negatives. Yes the plumbing can provide a hot and cold shower experience and some of the rooms are not renovated yet. The renovated rooms have a walk in shower and are always clean. Also the internet in some rooms is not good and there is no lift.

To counter the negatives the staff......ALL of them are really friendly and helpful. I have always been greeted with a smile and the bar staff are equally friendly.

The hotel food is very good and reasonably priced but if that doesn't suit then there are a plethora of eateries within 10 mins walk.

The breakfast is good and plentiful with nice extras like kippers or poached haddock etc available and again the staff are friendly.

The lounge and bar are very comfortable being the oldest part of the hotel with open fires and mood lighting.

This is not the Dorchester but is a very comfortable conveniently located hotel with excellent staff and a lovely soothing atmosphere and i always look forward to staying there.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the new building

“Well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

My partner and I stayed overnight at the Bush Hotel as we there for a Christmas party and got a concessionary room rate on B&B. Very good customer service on arrival as we were there an hour before normal booking-in time, but were allowed to register and go to our room. Farnham is a nice little town for shopping with a good range of local independant shops rather than the usual chains. Hotel right in the middle of it all with good parking available which is a bonus in this town.

Carpets and decor a little shabby leading to the rooms, but the room itself was much better.
Room was in the newer section overlooking the garden was clean and relatively modern with a really large double bed. Shower a bit low on pressure but clean and was OK. Toilet right up against the sink which made it a little awkward to sit on, and would be a problem for shall we say a larger person. We spent a comfortable night and were very appreciative of the extended breakfast times until 10.30am allowing for a lie-in.
Breakfast quality was a little below average to be honest, and the hot buffet was not being kept replenished quick enough, meaning people were hanging around for eggs, or bacon which kept running out.
Would have been a little disappointed if we had paid full price, but i would saty here again if visiting the town.

“Very convenient for the town but....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

Sadly let down by the plumbing. We booked an executive room and had the experience of being alternately frozen and then scalded by the shower - not a proper shower cubicle but a bath with shower curtain. This made it dangerous and we were relatively pleased to be immediately moved to another room the next day after reporting this.
What a shame that the new rooms plumbing had an almost identical shower system.
Other than that, the bar was good, the bed excellent abnd the situtaion ideal.
To be frank, for £140/night we had expected something slighly better.

Room Tip: ask if the shower works....

“Pleasant for one night, but a little shabby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

My husband and I recently stayed for one night on a business trip. The hotel is located in the heart of Farnham, making it perfectly situated to walk around a very nice town (with many restaurant options). The historic sitting rooms/bar in the hotel are very atmospheric and inviting, but we found the guest rooms are getting a little tired. Dingy paint, poor lighting, but the rooms are good sized and the sheets/bedding were crisp and fresh. The bathroom was in reasonably good condition, although we had to call to ask for a second set of towels. Turns out that the second set is kept in the closet, wrapped in plastic -- okay, but how long have they been in there?? And come on now, it's time for every hotel to offer free internet.
