“Expensive for what you get”

We stayed here overnight for a wedding being held at the hotel. The cost of a delux room was £170 however this was reduced for the wedding party. I'm my opinion it was very overpriced. I've stayed in better rooms at a fraction of the cost. I understand it's in a beautiful location near the Downs and the Epsom race course but it was a box standard room with limited facilities. As I was booking in the receptionist belched without an apology. There were two chais in the room which were both uncomfortable. No room safe and too few electrical sockets. I needed to take out charges so my wife could plug in one of her styling items. The room was cold as the heating was only turned on when we arrived. I can't see why for an hour prior to anyone booking in especially in the winter it can't be turned on just to make it welcoming. The bathroom was ok, nothing flash a small bath but however a separate shower which was a touch I liked. The area the hotel is set in I must admit was beautiful peaceful and no cars passing every second to disturb our front appointed room.
As I stated we we her for a wedding/reception that was conducted all in one. It was a very nice service and cosy room in which it was held. The bar we were the shown to was go good size to allow everyone to move around. However it was a bit odd that when I ordered a drink the staff needed to pop off someplace to get it. All other drinks were on hand.
The reception meal was great. Consisting of items I have always wanted to try. I had the wood pigeon and it was cooked beautifully.
Although more than likely I wont stay at this hotel again it is worth a visit for the food.
My over all view of the hotel is overpriced rooms with few personal amenities. The food was fantastic but

“Good quiet hotel, nice room and breakfast.”

We stayed here last year and again this November. We stayed in a different room tha to room 24, which we stayed in last year. Our room was smaller than room 24, but coser and this suited us just fine. There was no sofa either but that was fine too as we were only stayed for the night and not spending much time in the room itself. Breakfast was a good and cooked on request. It is about 5 minutes drive by taxi to the Epson Race courses or a little longer (10mins) if the gates are closed and you have to drive the long way around. The railway station was not far either about 6/8 minutes by taxi.

“Nice hotel with delecious food!”

This is a cute & very homey hotel. The reception is like a living room - the reception staff is very friendly and helpful. There are rooms on first floor and second floor. The room is very cozy. I got a green room on the second floor which was quiet and very clean. My friend stayed in a white room on the first floor last year and she said it' also good.

The food is a high light of this hotel - very deliciouse! You can order for an in-room meal and the food is superb!! I really enjoyed dinner in the room; I can relax from a long business day, watch TV and enjoy delicious dinner! Breakfast is nothing fancy but still good.

It is not too far from the Epsom station - many people walk since it is a safe area. By train, you can get to Waterloo is about 30 minutes which is convenience.

Room Tip: There is no lift. If you have a heavy bags, you may choose the first floor room or simply ask them t...

“50th Birthday Party”

I hosted my 50th Party on 29th October for 90 people. It was the most perfect location and everything ran very smoothly and I could not have wished for anymore it was very relaxed and I did not have to worry about a thing as everything was taken care of by pre-planning and the staff working there. Several of my guests also stayed at the Hotel, where the accomodation and breakfasts were of a high standard. Easy just to fall into bed after the party finished !!

“First Class Hotel and great food in a lovely setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

Although we live nearby, we had an early start the next morning in order to drive to the Channel Tunnel for an early crossing to Belgium. We also had a dog sitter staying at our house and I thought to myself....... why not have dinner and stay at the Chalk Lane Hotel! What a great plan and what a great experience. We were shown to a very well appointed superior twin room and settled into the armchairs clutching a G & T! The Hotel is a real gem and is located in a charming part of old Epsom. The owners have improved the hotel considerably over the years. Our dinner was first class and staff very attentive.
