“Good location, nice staff, bad internet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

I stayed for 1 night on 15/1/12. The parking is out front and the location easy to find. The welcome and check in was trouble free, and the young lady serving us was very nice and efficient.

The room was cosy. The bathroom and shower were very nice. TV was working and good.

However, WiFi was awful and kept dropping. I also found the bed to be a little on the short side, with me only being 6`1, - hardly a giant.

“First class service and excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

We stayed here for two nights whilst we attended a wedding locally. The Service was attentive and helpful from everyone. The food was excellent - the steak baguettes at lunch are a must. The hotel was built in 1709 so you have to expect a certain type of room. Bed was comfortable, shower hot and with full thermostatic control - could have been warmer on first night but then it was a cold night and I don't think the room had been used all week. Second night OK. All in all a good experience and given how bad some hotels are for £100+ per night I'd give this 4* maybe as some-one else said 3.5 would be more accurate but it's more than a 3.

“If there was an option to give it 3.5 out of 5, I would!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

My night at the Kings Arms was more-or-less exactly what I expected. A comfortable room in a traditional pub/hotel which served a selection of well-kept beers, reasonable food (both dinner and breakfast) and offered guests a selection of other free facilities such as parking and wireless internet.

There aren't many parking spaces outside the hotel (maybe 7 or 8), but I was able to get one without any problem. Parking was free, which isn't always the case in this area.

The room wasn't anything spectacular. It was a bit rough around the edges in places, but it was clean and had everything you need for a decent night; a clean, comfortable bed, flat screen TV, clean shower-room / toilet, tea and coffee making facilities.

The bar menu available in the pub downstairs was fairly good. I'd describe it as good quality pub food. I had a burger and it was very nice. If you don't fancy eating in the pub there are several other pubs / restaurants within easy walking distance of the Kings Arms. I certainly saw 2 or 3 within about 20 yards of the front door.

Breakfast at the hotel was also very good - it was served very quickly which, for me, is always a bonus as I am generally running late in the morning!

Can't really fault the place. For £65 for one night (single room), I thought it was fairly good value. I have certainly paid more for similar (sometimes worse) accommodation in this area.

It's certainly not the Ritz, but it's not claiming that it is! If you are looking for reasonably priced pub / B&B accommodation, then that's what you get at the Kings Arms.

Room Tip: The single room I stayed in was small, but more than adequate for me. Some might find it a bit too s...

“Pub and bar food review”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

This is based on three lunch time meals in the pub rather than the accommodation. The food is standard pub 'fare' - sausages and mash, fish and chips, burgers etc. It is fine, the chips are good, the burger was fine - all well cooked but unremarkable. There is a lunch menu with cheaper options for about five pounds, otherwise it is about eight pounds per plate. The beer is excellent (Badger ales). The time taken from the food varied from ten minutes to 45 to 60 minutes (excuses being a new chef and an event). A possibly good option after a day in Hampton Court or walking through Bushy Park if a) the pub is nearly empty, b) an experienced chef is on duty, and c) you like good beer - as it is a good pub to pick up a newspaper (several are provided free) - and have a couple of pints whilst you're waiting if it is busy.

“not for business”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

If you want to escape in a real british old style hotel, it's good. It's authentic, which doesn't mean it's good. The frame of the window doesn't close, so we have the noise and the cold. The bed is too small for a tall person.
The rest is decent, but it's more a hotel for a couple for one night in a holiday trip and a business hotel.
In any case, it's too expensive.
