The smell of indian food is ok in the evening but not in the morning when it is rather stale and accompanied by grubby tacky carpets and rude staff.
I arrived at breakfast, went to get a coffee, the coffee pot got caught on the filter bit and as I went to stop the filter falling out, the pot caught the table and smashed. The waitress shouted at me (literally) to sit down and get away. I sat down. She shouted at to move to a different table. Everyone else obviously silent and finding their cold oily eggs suddenly fascinating. Another member of staff came out of the kitchen, glared at me and went back in. By this time I laughed with my partner in a disbelieving - and embarrassed - way. The waitress then went from table to table telling them that there was no more coffee because 'that lady' has broken the only pot (I opened my mouth to point out the other pot on top of the coffee machine or the shelf of cafetieres but decided to keep it shut!).
Interestingly, the couple beside us then complained that there had been no breakfast out a few days ago. An argument of "Yes there was" and "No - there wasn't" ensued. Absolutely nuts. In the end the waitress disappeared to speak to the glarey woman in the kitchen, came back and said, "There was breakfast but it was obviously on a bank holiday so she did breakfast later." "Well you didn't let us know that" "Well of course she wouldn't get up early - it was a bank holiday" That was that as far as she was concerned!!
Ok so finally went to pay. Reception shuttered with iron grill. Glaring woman from kitchen took the key from us - sitting behind the 'prison' grill of course - and said "£15 for kettle" I explained that there was no way on this earth I was paying for a coffee pot etc etc. She then said, "You broke the coffee pot and then you laughed, you did it for fun, you think it is funny...." A long discussion followed. I did not pay for the pot but left wound up and teary.
Never Ever Ever in a million Sundays if it is the last Sunday in the universe go to this utter rip off a joint. I seriously think trading standards should get involved.
