“Ok quality hotel following refurbishment but major teething problems”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

On first inspection the room was of ok standard after walking through a maze of corridors. the shower was a good quality power shower. Halfway through the second night all electric and lighting went in our room. Straight away I spoke with reception who advised nothing they could do until morning but did not offer an alternative room. in the morning I spoke to the manager who offered us a separate room so we could shower. When we got to the room we found it clean but had a sub-standard shower with no hot water and only tepid water out of the hot tap at the sink. due to the late hour in terms of checking out we decided to cut our losses and check out. we will not use this hotel again.

“Pleasently Surprised”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I managed to find a very cheap, last minute deal online, via laterooms for a same day booking to this hotel and at £35 for the night for a double "ensuite" room was expecting a really shabby , small, poorly run little B&B.

Not so, the place had ample parking, was much larger than expected inside. The staff I found to be quite friendly and helpful. There was a small bar aswell as a pool table in this hotel, which again I did not expect to see. Although I did go in, I did not use these facilitiees as I was going out into Croydon town.

The room I had was comfortable, although I initially had to get used to the bright orange decor in there. I have stayed in travel lodges and paid triple the price in London for much worse. The bed was ok, a bit springy but still managed to get a decent nights sleep. The bathroom was compact but not so small you felt claustrophobic, made more comfortable by the fact there was a rather large shower cubicle in there. Again the bedroom was compact but it felt bigger than it was, had 2 cushioned stools, a desk, tv and double bed. Small Flat screen TV only had the 5 basic channels but wasnt an issue for me.

The location of this place is very convenient if you want to jump on a bus in either direction, I took a bus straight into croydon to go to Tiger Tiger for £1.40 and it took 5/6 minutes to get there at night. The bus dropped me almost directly infront oft the place. I had been told the area that the hotel was in, is not very nice but I felt safe walking around there. There are some shops within easy walking distance (1-2 mins) including a tesco express within a minute or twos drive.

All in all the room was good, the main common areas are a bit rough around the edges but nothing to complain about for the money, the continental breakfast that was included in the room price was pretty basic and consisted of a choice of tea/coffee, rice crispies/ cornflakes, toast with choice of condiments and juice. It was sufficient for my purposes as I was planning on having a heavy lunch later on that day.

I would say that if you.re looking for a decent size B&B within easy reach of Croydon, this place is worth considering as an option, especially if you want to hop on the bus or even catch a cab as there is a taxi firm again within a minute or twos walk from here and there are shops and food on your doorstep. Plus they have free parking, so may work out to be an even value when you consider most hotels in town charge hefty fees to park your car.

During my journey to london i had booked this hotel for 10 days and my experience was good and rate is not high and location is also good. There are some indian restaurants at walking distance.Staff is also very co-operative.

Room Tip: Rooms on road side is good

“worst night of my life!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

This could quite possibly be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!! The hotel is not only in one of the most frightning areas I have ever visited but is filthy dirty and undergoing extreame renovation, which are dispite what any website may say no where near finished. Outside our room were dust sheets and filth, no wallpaper on walls. Our acutall room was no better dark, dirty and very very smelly (smelt of stale cigarette smoke). When we tried to complain to the staff about the state of the room they could not care less and just ignored our request to change rooms. Just when we thought things could not get any worse we were woken at 3.15am by other guests running around screaming, banging on doors and slamming them, fighting, swearing and stating that they had been mugged outside the hotel!!!!!!!!!!! At 5.15am this was still going on so I finally called down to reception they sent up security who asked them to be quite which they completly ignored!!!! At 5.45am as we were finally dropping off to sleep the reception called us to ask if the noise had stopped!!! I could not believe they had called us at that hour and suggested they sent someone up to check for theirselves!!!!! The next morning we checked out as early as possible as we just wanted to get out of the hell hole, there was no way we would even think about having breakfast!!! I complained on checking out but the Manager laughed at us he seemed to find the fact we had been kept up all night with the trouble in some way amusing!! However he did let us know that the trouble in the hotel was so bad that they even had to call the police on two seperate occassions during the course of that one night. Please if you have children do not stay in this hotel IT IS NOT SAFE FOR FAMILIES!!! I WOULD NOT SEND MY WORSE ENEMY TO THIS HOTEL. I have never written a review before but feel so angry about my experience I felt I had to warn others NOT TO STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!!

I am a travel agent and having stayed at various different hotels in the world from the lowest budget up to the best 5 star... this has to be by far the worst experience i have encountered from a hotel..... reasons : staff are rude, even on check in very arrogant! i had to ask the nuight manager ( MR Farrook )several times to stop being rude to my mum who is disabled .... when we went to breakfast its was terrrible service and the food in general was not anywhere near value for money...

in short if you book this hotel you will be overcharged, treated rudely and very underserviced!

If your an asylum seeker or mental health patient this place is perfect !!!!

Dont waste your money guys there are far far better options......
