Not sure if we stayed at the same hotel as some of the other reviewers. We stayed on 14th January, first impressions were very good. Check in was very straightforward, my only difficulty was understanding the accent of the receptionist, they were extremely efficient. Was a little concerned when I saw that the function room was set up for a 21st birthday - did not fancy lots of young people being loud. I had requested an upper floor away from the lift and got exactly that. Room was spotless and well equipped. Good toiletries in the bathroom and plenty of hot water. Also at last, a shower curtain that hung properly and did not wrap around me.
Unfortunately did not use the bar, but it looked very nice. As for the party, we did not hear a thing, if anything my room was too quiet. Only downside is that I would have liked better instructions on how to adjust the heating as the room was too warm.
Breakfast was excellent value, a full buffet with plenty of choice. My own foible is that I can not bear fried eggs that are overcooked and rubbery, these were lovely and the chef would cook them individually if you wanted. Also given an individualpot of tea, yes!!!!
I booked through a late booking company and paid the similar price as for Travel lodge and Premier inn.
The staff were all extremely polite, including the cleaner who called a cheery good morning as we walked down the corridor. Checkout was as easy as check in.
All in all an excellent experience and great value for money.
