“We had the perfect wedding reception here. An amazing find.”

The Pride of the Valley went all the way to make our wedding day absolutely perfect. We have nothing but praise for the staff for every aspect of the occasion from dinner on Friday night, canapés and dinner on the day, the disco and the magnificent cheese board. All our guests said it was faultless - with a number adding that it was the best wedding they had ever been to. The breakfasts are fabulous and all of the rooms individually designed - many of them are very beautiful.

The pace of the day was very relaxed just as we envisaged and both the food and the service were perfect - everyone got exactly what they ordered without fuss. It was a great fun day for us and to know that we were in such great hands allowed us to relax and build up great memories of a day we will never forget.

Thanks to all at PotV for a truly wonderful and amazing day.
Helen and David

“Amazing wedding venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

We held our wedding reception at the Pride of the Valley Hotel at the end of May and we really could not have chosen a better venue.

What drew us to the hotel was the high quality of their food and the fact that our family and friends could take over the whole place. We were not disappointed as the food was outstanding (from dinner for 30 the night before, breakfast, wedding breakfast for 70, food for bands & photographer and evening buffet for 100 it was all delicious) and having the run of the whole hotel meant that we could celebrate without disturbing any other guests. It was great in the evening to have the band playing and guests dancing in the bar area and having the restaurant for those wanting to chat.

The individual nature of each of the rooms was also a great talking point. Our room, had a Gothic theme and was a perfect honeymoon suite.

A huge thanks to Sue and all the staff at the hotel who allowed our day to run without a hitch. We really couldn't have planned the day without Sue's help, nothing was too much trouble.

When selecting our wedding venue we visited many hotels much more expensive than Pride of the Valley, however we could have paid at least five times more and our day couldn't have been any better. The service at Pride of the Valley really is impeccable.

We would both recommend Pride of the Valley as the perfect location for any event or just a meal - we will be back soon.

“Didnt live up to recommendations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2011

hotel had come with personal recommendations but was unable to live up to them.
the room we were given was below another room probably used by staff who were noisy both late at night and in the morning.
Breakfast was poor with cereals and juices but no fruit or yogurts and the cooked breakfast was spartan with only one rasher of bacon.
The room was small and in need of refurbishment with a small bed. It was clean.
the hotel has lots of potential with a mix of styles of old and new but lets itself down with poor service.

“A lovely stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of October, a Monday and Tuesday night.
We had walked the Devils Punchbowl during the day and arrived tired and hungry!
The check in was fast, polite and efficient.
Our room was lovely and very clean. Hubby was worried as it looked like we just had 1 square roo, but with a little female ingenuity.....abracabra and there behind the middle wardrobe door was the bathroom.
The bed was comfy, a wrought iron four post bed. The room was warm.
The bathroom looked fabulous, although the shower was a little inpractical for my husband liking. I wasnt bothered, as I enjoyed floating in the deep rolled top bath.
We ate the first night in the main posh restaurant. To say the service was slow would be an understatement. It took about 2 hours for our meal start to finish. We had a very swish pork dish, beautifully presented and very delish, but the big draw back was that it could have fitted on a saucer. A miniscule slither of roast pork another morsel of pig cheek and a teen weany square of belly pork. We were ravenous! Thankfully the cheese board was excellent, but we had waited so long it was hugely disappointing. Thankfully I had a Toblerone in my bag upstairs. The 2nd night we ate in the bar. The food was superb and of normal quantity and served a lot quicker.
On both mornings the breakfast was superb and generous.
Opposite the hotel is a Sculpture park. Worth every single penny and an absolute must if you have the time. We had anticipated to spend half an hour in there, but, it took us a good 2 hours to fully enjoy it.
The hotel is well placed for what we wanted to do, a spot of hiking in the Devils Punchbowl and a visit to the Arboretum a few miles away.
My request to the hotel would be to have a bit of info on the local area, perhaps some of those pamphlets you can get of local places of interest. There was 1 for Bucklars Hard, but thats many miles away and in Hampshire!
We would happily stay at this hotel again.
Ps. It is on the corner of a very busy junction. If you are a light sleeper you may wish to request a room away from the traffic. However there is virtually no traffic through the night, it only started at about 7am, strange as you wonder where all the traffic is going, as you feel like you are in the middle on nowhere!
