As someone that stays in hotels Monday to Friday every working week, I feel I am in a good position to guide a good/bad hotel when I see it. The room rate was £80, so I was not expecting much, but what I found was even below that.

The room was ok, but the decor old and tired, however the bathroom was new and clean, with a good shower. The bed was very soft, as were the pillows, not always good.

The free wi-fi was very slow, and to cap it all they block many sites, with web sense software ..... This was a first!

Service in the bar/ restaurant was exceptionally slow, I ordered salad with grilled chicken, the chicken had been par boiled then grilled so was horrid. Breakfast was a buffet style, with many of the items cold, as were the plates.

I would not choose to stay here again

Stayed here on a cheap rate so not complaints, represented good value.
The room was spacious and very clean. However it was very dated, looked like it would have been the height of fashion in about 1985. Also, unnerving to some a photograph of Margaret Thatcher was hanging in the reception area !
The staff were pleasant and friendly.
The cooked breakfast was rather bland tasting, sausages inedible.

Good points: Location on the Lakeside (you may have guessed), very friendly and helpful staff, plenty of parking. Bad points: Empty hotel, rooms needed some renovation and the lesuire facilities cost extra to use. I imagine it is a lot better in the summer, when it is full and amenities open.

just returned from the lakeside darts and stayed at this hotel for three nights.Clean and comfortable and most of all the staff are all friendly and helpful. The hotel has a personal touch and you are treated as a true person not just a booking number. Will return hopefully next year and maybe in the summer for a short break as the lake area and it surrounding areas are quite relaxing.
