This hotel is a real jumble of buildings, all in a slightly different style, and each room is different. The room I had (Berry) was outstanding, and one of the nicest hotel rooms i've ever been in. Nice touches like a television in the bathroom make for a feel of luxury (although the remote for the other TVs in the room may require some level of technical expertise!). Berry does overlook the spa, but i didn't have any of the noise problems other reviewers mention.
All the little touches in the room were ideal, even simple things like a power socket in the safe so that your laptop/phone etc can charge whilst locked away, and I love the fresh bread service where you leave a card out for freshly baked bread to take home in the morning.
The spa is reasonable, although not the best one available in the area. On my visit, several parts of the thermal suite were shut for maintenance, and they seem to lack some of the just basic spa facilties like a normal sauna (there's a herbal one, but it is full of steam, which in my mind makes it a steam room...). On the other hand, the outdoor hot tub is brilliant to relax in, keeping warm whilst it is cold outside.
I dined as part of a private group, but the food was excellent, and very well thought through, avoiding the usual cliches and pitfalls of group dining.
Staff were never other than attentive and professional, and always very helpful.
And as a bonus for me, running in to members of the England Rugby team around the hotel was a bonus (this is their official training camp before internationals)
