The welcome of the owners of Lower Micklin Farm was very warm and their attention to our particular needs superb. Whether it was guidance on the best time to go to Alton Towers or help in choosing good walking and cycling routes , they provided very helpful information that we could always rely upon.
The cottage we stayed in (No. 4) was comfortable, very clean and well equipped. We enjoyed wonderful views across the valley to the Weaver Hills (about 3 miles away) and the road was hidden by the fall of the land, removing traffic noise and giving the cottage a very tranquil feel. The Farm has a play area for younger children and a field with football goals for older children.
The adults really liked the 6km circular walk around Denstone including a nice pub en route and also a cycle ride (advised by Mike) partly using a disused railway line near to the Farm. The local pubs that were recommended for lunches and evening meals were just right. The teenage boys preferred the trip to the Towers (book the tickets on line for discount) which was only 2 miles (5 minutes by car) from the Farm. The sun shone throughout and we all had a brilliant first stay at Lower Micklin Farm.
