“Excellent location, food, accommodation and personal touches!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Our first visit to North Wheddon Farm was excellent and we will go back! We stayed in the self catering apartment with our 2 year old boy and it was perfect, from fresh bread from the bread maker ready on our arrival, to 'home grown' sausages and bacon left in the fridge, plenty of space, clean and welcoming. Rachael and Julian also provide a gorgeous dinner and a bonus trip around the farm to help with feeding the animals - something our little boy has not stopped talking about.

“Very welcoming and great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Just been back to North Wheddon Farm for our 2nd visit - the first was a couple of years ago. What I'd really stress is that this is a really relaxed place to stay where you'll be made very welcome - in the best easy-going, informal sort of way - by owners Rachael and Julian. So: great for winding down, which was what I needed after a very busy time leading up to Christmas.

It's other great feature is the food, made with enthusiasm, skill and attention to detail. We had a different breakfast every day - all lovely - and you do need to book in for at least one evening meal. Sausages, bacon, eggs etc all produced on the farm.

Also a great location plum in the middle of Exmoor, so ideal if you want to explore the area. All in all, a great place which we'd thoroughly recommend.

“North Wheddon Farm - beautiful location and accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

This was my first visit to North Wheddon farm and I stayed with my family (two young children) for a week. Even though it was December there was plenty to do exploring the stunning countryside, seeing the Exmoor ponies and going to the coast. There was spectacular scenery. My children particularly loved feeding the animals at the farm every day and roaming around the fields. It was great having sheep grazing outside the lounge doors. The barn was very comfortable and well equipped with everything you should want. I would thoroughly recommend it.

“Great food, friendly hosts, peaceful location”

I stayed at North Wheddon Farm for almost a week, and very much enjoyed it (particularly since the weather was fantastic!). The food was excellent - fresh, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, but not over the top for every day. "Home-grown" sausages for breakfast were superb, and evening meals were something to look forward to. Rachael and Julian are very friendly and helpful, and make their guests feel very welcome, in a home-from-home sort of way. The location is very convenient for exploring Exmoor and great for getting away from it all - very quiet, with no mobile phone signals, and TV only through digibox (couldn't get the WiFi signal to work, but it probably depends on the room you're in).

The farmhouse itself is pleasant and comfortable - homely rather than elegant, though the building is interesting, and I liked the touches of modern-ish art. The double room was very comfortable, but one night in the single room (not en-suite) was not so impressive - comfortable enough, but room seemed to me to lack the attention to detail of the double room (rather dark, and lacking in power points and lights where needed, i.e. over the basin). Private bathroom associated with single room was ok, but similar comments to single room - in need of a bit of updating and TLC.

All in all, a good find, and I'd be very happy to go back (to the double room).

Room Tip: Doubles looked fine; single is ok but private bathroom needs updating.
