I stayed at North Wheddon Farm for almost a week, and very much enjoyed it (particularly since the weather was fantastic!). The food was excellent - fresh, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, but not over the top for every day. "Home-grown" sausages for breakfast were superb, and evening meals were something to look forward to. Rachael and Julian are very friendly and helpful, and make their guests feel very welcome, in a home-from-home sort of way. The location is very convenient for exploring Exmoor and great for getting away from it all - very quiet, with no mobile phone signals, and TV only through digibox (couldn't get the WiFi signal to work, but it probably depends on the room you're in).
The farmhouse itself is pleasant and comfortable - homely rather than elegant, though the building is interesting, and I liked the touches of modern-ish art. The double room was very comfortable, but one night in the single room (not en-suite) was not so impressive - comfortable enough, but room seemed to me to lack the attention to detail of the double room (rather dark, and lacking in power points and lights where needed, i.e. over the basin). Private bathroom associated with single room was ok, but similar comments to single room - in need of a bit of updating and TLC.
All in all, a good find, and I'd be very happy to go back (to the double room).
Room Tip: Doubles looked fine; single is ok but private bathroom needs updating.
