It was well past dark, and we were afraid we would not make it to the hotel where we were staying in time for dinner. So we stopped at the Gwesty Minffordd. It was misty and cold, and this charming little hotel welcomed us like a sparkling jewel of warmth and character.
The owner could not have been friendlier, and we enjoyed chatting with him while we waited for our meal to be prepared. And, we learned so much from him about the history of the hotel and its beautiful location. When we travel, we like to enjoy as much of the uniqueness of a place as possible. Otherwise, what is the point of traveling? So it is experiences such as the one we had at the Gwesty Minffordd that makes a trip so very special. I might add that our meal was delicious, cooked to perfection.
One of the guests staying at the hotel was traveling with her dog, and we were delighted with how accommodating the owner of the Gwesty was. The lady didn't like leaving her dog alone, and he suggested that instead of taking her after-dinner coffee in the dinning room, that she have it in the lounge where her dog could join her. When we left, we could see the two of them through the large windows. The lady was sitting on the floor, holding a book in one hand and petting her friend with the other.
All in all, we got the impression that the owner could not do too much for his guests. We plan to return to Wales very soon, perhaps next October and shall plan a route that allows us to stay at this wonderful hotel, with its Old-World decor, exposed wooden beams, and friendly owner.
