We had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Lion Hotel in Worksop for new year 2011.
My wife and i booked the stay for two nights including new years eve. We always try to get away for new year and have stayed in hotels all over the country for the new year break. This was without a doubt one of, if not the best breaks we have had to date.
From the moment we checked in until the time that we left nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff. Check in was smooth, we were offered help with our luggage, the room was perfect and the hotel had even laid on a complimentary afternoon tea with wonderful cakes and sandwiches as part of the new years celebrations.
We were greeted by the hotel general Manager Tina Pearson who without doubt is one of the best hosts we have encountered in a best western hotel. She appears to have a dedicated staff, all of which are well trained and smartly turned out whilst at the same time offering personel service. I must say that all the staff without exception were very attentive.
The new years eve ball itself was superb. This was run with a Las Vegas theme ( casino set up) the food just marvellous, good music and even a magician going around the tables during dinner to entertain the guests.
All in all this was a great hotel, very reasonably priced , very clean and comfortable.
It is fair to say that Worksop itself hasn't a lot to offer, but close by you have clumber park (a great place to visit and walk off all that wonderful food). Not far from sherwood forest and for the shopaholics its just 10 minuets drive from the large meadowhall shopping centre.
Would we go there again for new year ? you bet we would.
Would we stay there again for a short break ? Oh yes
If you want a short break with great service give this place a try!
