“Possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2011

Needed somewhere to stop on the way home from a business trip so I thought I'd try Blyth as I knew there was a travelodge there.
I was worried as soon as I got there as there were no nets in the upper windows and they were all open, builders in?

I had to wait over 5 minutes for someone to come and check me in.

Got to the room which can best be described as tired and tatty.
I was so tired from my trip I went to get a meal from the burger king then crashed out.

The mattress was on its last legs, very soft on one side but I slept OK because I was so tired.

The shower was pretty poor, very low flow and all the controls had no discernable effect on the temperature. The creme de la creme of the shower was the woman coming in to do the room while I was drying myself (she did not knock)! On balance I think she was more shocked than me.

So to sum up, check if they've sorted the place out before you stay there.

“worst hotel in the UK”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

after experiencing premier inns we thought the travelodge would be equal to that. we were wrong. when we entered the room the window was open and it was freezing. we later realised this was to mask the mouldy and unhygenic smells lurking in the room. we closed the window and the curtains were still blowing around like it was still open - poor windows. We therefore asked for an extra quilt because the weather was coming into the room, but the receptionist was very reluctant to help. In the end we managed to get a single duvet but we still needed to barricade the window using the filthy and smelly cushions off the sofa. The decor and flooring were hideous and grubby. The shower was a trickle. The furniture was falling apart. I woke up covered in bites and we left immediately upon waking from a very poor sleep. Definitely DO NOT bother with this place unless you are used to sleeping rough and fancy a treat.

“Stayed for Wedding - Excellent value!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We paid £9 per room per night for this stay and for that you just cant fault the hotel! It was pretty basic, but had everything you could want. They were accomodating to requests for rooms near to each other.

Some rooms now have flatscreen TVs. The rooms look pretty much exactly like the ones pictured on the Travelodge Website. Shallow baths are not particularly brilliant and neither was the shower. There are Tea and Coffee facilities in the room.

The hotel is right next to the service station and road noise is not noticeable on the car park side (ask for a room on this side!!!). Cant fault it for the money! And pretty easy for getting around Notts/Yorkshire!

“Fits the Bill!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2010

My wife and I booked the Travelodge for one night only to attend a 40th Birthday Party nearby, in Bircotes.

It was very easy to find, just off the A1 (M).

Very clean and tidy, comfortable bed, and friendly talkative staff - excellent! What more do you need? Nice, clean bathroom, and situated right next to the A1 - hardly any vehicle noise, and our room backed on to the A1. As above, although we only stayed one night, but would have stayed longer, happily, if required. Nice place.

We booked the "mini breakfast deal" at £2.25 each for the next day - excellent! Just enough for each of us.

A really nice Travelodge that I would stay at again.

Tarvelodge, you have got it just about right here - don't try and change it too much eh?

Excellent value for money. Ideal for purpose - an overnight stop on a long journey.
