“All went pear shaped”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

Surveillance on vehicles and car parking requirement to capture your car details you then have to acknowledge this is you on a screen in the lodge.Otherwise parking fines. Very basic in terms of no bath toiletries provided except a tiny bar of soap in a flimsy plastic film. The soap hard to lather. No hot shower and poorly heated room. Couldn't check in before 3pm without incurring further charges £10.Service station next door to buy toiletries so take them if you don't know! Vending machines in the lodge!! Good luck. This was a business and family visit.

Room Tip: No idea. Just do as they say.Sleep and leave.

“Parking charges hassle”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

It's a travelodge - so the rooms are pretty standard, nothing to write home about but equally fine for a no frills stop over.
What I didn't expect was the hassle with parking charges. When you check in, you're invited to enter your registration number on the system, to avoid falling foul of the moto services 2 hour parking limit. We did this, all seemed to work fine. So I was surprised a few weeks later to get a letter demanding £80 (or £50 if we pay up early) for the parking. The letters look like a fine, so I daresay some people might just pay it to avoid the hassle. I chose to write a letter explaining the terms & conditions at the Travelodge entitled me to free parking for the night. To be fair, this was accepted in a letter from the parking company that was written with a completely different tone to the original demand.
This was supposed to be a fund weekend away, my main memory of it is the unnecessary hassle and I certainly shan't bother staying at this or any other Travelodge in future.

“Warm welcome - soft mattresses in all 4 rooms family booked”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

The hotel was clean and tidy and we were met on booking in with a warm welcome by the friendly receptionist (a new member of staff)

The hotel was close to where a family function was so was a perfect place to stay.

The only problem as with most Travelodges we have stayed in recently was very soft mattresses so I opted to use pull out bed with much firmer mattress and slept well.

We booked a total of 4 rooms and all mattresses were same softness so those that opted to sleep in the bed were complaining of backache the next day.

This was the only thing that let the hotel down.

Room Tip: For a good nights sleep use pull out bed as mattress much firmer

“Very poor to very average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Got off to a bad start before we even arrived, Sat nav was not updated so took one and a half hours to find it when in fact it should only have taken 45 minutes. We stayed here for one night before an early flight from Don/sheff the next day. A friendly hotel and the receptionist was very pleasant taking time out to bring us an ironing board. We have stayed in many travelodges over the years but this one was the most dated of them all. Rated average because of this although the receptionist was a lovely friendly lady. Would only stay here again if the rooms are on sale otherwise go elsewhere. Beds very uncomfortable, old grubby furniture and not very clean.

“Good but dated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011 via mobile

The room was adequate but it all feels quite old and dated. The staff were extremely helpful. Bed was comfy. Services next door good for food and shop.
