“Wonderful Surprise.....hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Stayed with my husband for one night during the Christmas holiday. We were blown away by this little gem of a hotel.
We had received a voucher as a wedding gift and chose to stay here because of it's proximity to Doncaster Racecourse. How wonderfully surprised we were.......very kindly upgraded to the "lady Jane Suite" the most stunning room, spotlessly clean, with the most comfortable bed ever!
We had a three course evening meal in the Bistro which we couldn't fault, quality of the food and service were 1st class. There was a wedding event on during the same evening but in no way did this detract from the quality of service we received.
Thank you "Ye Olde Bell" we will definately visit again and recommend you to our family & friends.

Thank you for your wonderful comments following a recent stay at Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Restaurant, I am delighted you enjoyed your stay and your upgrade to the Lady Jane Suite. It is a truly elegant and stunning suite and definitely one of my own favourites.
I'm thrilled you enjoyed your meal in the Bistro, it's perfect for a relaxed dining experience, you must try Restaurant 1650 next time you stay as it offers exceptional fod and service too but in quite a different environment.
Thank you again for taking the time to write a review and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.
Kind regards
Kate Firth

Thank you for your wonderful comments and I wholeheartedly agree it was a fabulous event organised and driven by a small group of people here at the hotel to whom Help the Heroes is a personal and meaningful charity.
The atmosphere was truly amazing, everyone had a fantastic time and most importantly a significant amount of money was raised for a very worthwhile cause.
I appreciate you taking the time to write a review and expressing your appreciation of a job well done.
Thank you
Kind regards

“Very good, but lacking in a few areas”

My wife an I stayed one night at this hotel. The room was very good (it was not in the main building but across the car park) and excellent bathroom and decor. It looked recently completed and was being maintained very well. Reception and check-in was very good, including the receptionist showing us to our room. We ate in the restaurant (1640?) which was also good. The service was a touch informal at the price (£90 for a meal for two including wine). The food was good and creatively prepared. The general ambience of the hotel was pleasant.

This is a hotel that presumably does a lot of business with parties/groups/weddings etc. On the night we stayed there were two functions, including a disco to 1pm which disturbed my sleep. I think we had been put in a room as far away from the music as possible, for which we were grateful, but it was still a disturbance. It also meant that the hotel was loud and not especially
relaxing on the previous evening.

So if you are looking for a quiet weekend away this may not be the rightplace - perhaps check if there is a function on. That said, the quality of the food and accommodation is high and he staff provided a good service, so overall pretty good.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent stay at Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Restaurant.
I greatly appreciate your very positive comments regarding one of our new ground floor Courtyard rooms, they have been recently completed and we are thrilled with the results, in particular the decor and the amazing antique furniture which was hand picked by the hotel owners.
I am also delighted you enjoyed your meal and the ambience in Restaurant 1650 and will certainly pass your comments on to all involved, it is a truly elegant restaurant and most conducive to a relaxing evening.
I am very sorry your sleep was disturbed by one of the parties taking place in the hotel. many of our bedrooms are far removed from the suites we use for celebrations and these are the ones we allocate to independent guests to ensure a good night's sleep. Should we have the pleasure of your company again please mention at the time of reservation that you would like one of these rooms and we will be delighted to accommodate.
Thank you once again for your lovely comments and I look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you to the hotel again in the future.
KInd regards

“Business Stop Over”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Its not the first time I have stayed at the Bell for business over night stops. The service is first class, breakfast and restaurant is very good , beer good , rooms and shower good and the interior surrounds are just wonderful. When you are away from home and family it means everything to be well looked after. What makes it different ? ; and the one thing that makes you want go back to the same place ? its got to be the welcoming staff.
Wonderful Stay only just too brief.

“The best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

My lovely boyfriend booked a 2 night stay for my birthday, and after looking at the website and reviews we had high expectations! We cant afford to get away often and when we do its so important to us that its special. Thanks to the amazing staff team at Ye Olde Bell it was exactly that! We were given an excellent mid week deal and very kindly upgraded to the most amazing room! The hotel renovation is just beautiful, very tasteful, cosy, and spotlessly clean. The hotel has a really relaxed, informal, welcoming atmosphere and great for spending time drinking lots of red wine by the open fire! All the staff are friendly, attentive and make you feel at ease. The food at the restaurant and the bar is a very high standard, and well worth a try. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone, whether its business or pleasure I've no doubt that you will not be disappointed. Such a well run hotel in every way. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so memorable, your attention to detail really shines through.

We are all extremely proud of our beautiful hotel and thrilled to share the wonderful ambience and facilities with our guests and you are right, there's nothing quite like enjoying a good glass of red wine in front of that roaring log fire- definitely an upside to winter!!
Hope you will visit us again soon.
