“Find better”

We certainly couldn't! An absolutely outstanding haven run in the way that would shame much more expensive and pretentious 'boutique hotels' What an amazing find. Enid and her team make you feel that you are family ( in a good sense) whilst allowing you to stay in what feels like an National trust setting and sample quite excellent food. All this without airs and graces AND with a most resonable price tag.
The most accomodating accomodation. Don't tell any one else please.
PS though so remote it's hard to find, keep going. The noise from the concrete farm road made us all feel like the exaughts had fallen off and , yes, we stopped to check, it was only noise.

Room Tip: Just ask! Enid let us choose when we got there. The garden rooms are just beautiful

“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We stayed here recently for two nights and had an amazing time. The staff are all so friendly and cannot do enough to help you. The breakfast is also amazing!
We will definitely be returning and would recommend it to anyone.

“Still just as good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

I stayed at Thistleyhaugh for a week (my second visit), and thoroughly enjoyed it again - very comfortable, run by a lovely family who make guests very welcome (lots of repeat business - most of my fellow-guests were regulars). Enjoyed the food again (a set menu, unpretentious and well-cooked, mostly traditional main courses & desserts with slightly more modern starters), and also the communal dining round a wonderful large table. Room was lovely, with a good shower, and lounge/garden room very comfortable to relax in. Well worth battling the long and bumpy lane to get there!

Room Tip: Mary room has lovely view over the garden.

“Northumberland hospitality at its very best, book it & you will not regret it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

We booked all five of Thistleyhaugh's rooms for our wedding guests. The guest house is on a working farm, and is some way off the main road, along country tracks, but it is worth every bump when you arrive! Everything about the guest house is emaculate, the rooms presented with anitques, these are not just for show. All of our guest have commented on what a stunning and relaxing guest house it is, and what really makes it is the warm and friendly welcome that is waiting for every guest. Enid, Henry and in particular Zoe made our guests so at home, and nothing was too much trouble. Little touches like the home made shortbread in the rooms, the fact that everyone sits around a large dining table for breakfast, followed by a strole around the farm if you so fancied, just added to the experience, especially in spring with all the new arrivals. All of our guest have said they will most defnately visit again and recommend it to friends. Thistleyhaugh is an absloute 5 star retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, a place where you can unwind, enjoy home cooked food and most importantly relax and feel a million miles from anywhere.

Room Tip: Use the website directions not sat nav, its easy.

“Fabulously warm welcome, delightfully luxurious stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2011

My husband and I stayed here for a friends wedding at the nearby Hall. I would recommend you follow the b&b's instructions on how to get there rather than use sat-nav as we did, which took us down an old very potholed back road to get there. We were shown to our beautifully decorated room by an exceptionally friendly Zoe, who then served us a wonderful dinner, along with the other four guests, and we had some lively conversation. Our room was elegant, with a beautiful dressing table, wardrobe and wonderfully set out tea tray. The bathroom was 5 * plus, with roll top bath, double sized shower cublicle including white fluffy face towel, hand towel and huge bath towel each, along with lovely toiletries.

Breakfast was equally delicious, including local produce. Very yummy eggs and sausages, and views of the sheep being moved from field to field.

All in all I count this stay as one of the best stays of my lifetime. I would recommend this place to anyone! I simply cannot rate it high enough and I am quite a fussy person when it comes to service. The whole package was wonderful!
