Stayed for just one night whilst touring Northumberland and were not disappointed with this hotel. Lovely, peacefull location up a long tree lined lane and by the river Till. Great for walking and for other country persuits - fishing, hunting etc. There was actually a group of French people staying - all dolled up in their hunting gear and rather posh!! Added to the whole 'country manor' feel of the place!! Room was very spacious and nicely decorated with antique furniture and with all usual amenities. Entrance hall was very impressive and just what you'd expect to see with a nice, cosy bar with log fire to the left. Staff were exceptional and very helpful. Dinner was booked for us in the restaurant - menu was orinary enough, nithing fancy, but the quality and service of our meal was fantastic. Food was very tasty and well presented. Breakfast the next mroning was also delicious! The negative comment I have to make is the silence in the restaurant - there were only 3 tables occupied (the French were in a separate function room) and you could hear eveything that everyone was trying to say, unless they whispered - made it a littl uncomfortable. A little background music would be good!!
