“Friendly little old hotel with great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

Room rates - £90 per room per night to end of October then Autumn / Winter £70.

Just got back from a 1 night stay. Berwick is a lovely little city and one can walk round the town's walls.

The hotel is old (17th Century), when we arrived our first impession was how lovely it looks from outside with lots of hanging baskets and tubs of flowers. Parking must be a problem at the peak of the season although there are a number of spaces at the front (60p per hour Monday to Saturday 9 am to 5pm) and additional parking at the back.

Entering the hotel there is a peasant bar to the left and restaurant to the right. There are only 6 rooms, we had room 1 which was fine if small, had twin beds, TV, 2 armchairs and shower room. All very clean and comfortable.

We had dinner which was excellent, as was breakfast with cereal, yoghurt, fruit juice followed by a choice of cooked breakfasts.

The owner was epecially helpful.

Highly recomended.

Hi there, thanks for review & comments. Hanging baskets & window boxes are time consuming but I enjoy making the hotel exterior look inviting & welcoming to any visitors. Parking is seldom a problem as there is reasonably priced pay & displays surrounding the hotel, unfortunately we do not have our own private parking so daily charges are incurred on a Monday to Saturday from 9am until 5pm with a pay & display parking for 24hours @ £4.50. Thanks again & hope to see you in the future.

“VERY enjoyable stay”

Recently returned from a 3 night stay at the Queen's Head hotel. The stay could not have been bettered in any way. My room was compact but I certainly did not find it any smaller than other similarly sized hotels I have visited. The complimentary fruit/sweets were a nice touch. Beds were comfy all facilities were provided. I found the food, both breakfast and dinner, delicious and more than adequate for my appetite. I enjoyed the use of local produce and the fact that the smallish bar served a local ale. In particular I found the staff professional, polite and interested you – a real bonus for a single traveller like myself. This was my first trip to Berwick but will certainly stay at the hotel on any future visits.

“Always made to feel welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

I stay at this hotel frequently for business but always look forward to it. I am always welcomed and made to feel at home. The rooms are cosy clean with complimentary magazines, fruit chocolate and water a very nice touch that you don't see very often.
The food is always amazing starting with home made bread then a choice of traditional dishes with a modern twist. Beds are great so you wake up fresh and ready for a freshly cooked served breakfast, what more could you ask for.
Look forward to my next trip.
