Stayed here with my husband and dog for 3 nights. This place really is a little peace of paradise in Alnwick. Its so unusual and friendly. The rooms are not massive but they are really clean and tidy. There is no bar at this hotel but Evelyn puts a couple of wine glasses in your room and you can take your own if you want to. Nothing seems to be a problem if you ask for it here. As soon as we arrived we were offered a brew outside in the lovely courtyard area. Which was most welcomed. They also sell a few antiques here aswell, if you are so inclined, would defo go back here if I go back up this way. Makes a change to see a place with some character instead your run of the mill hotel chains, which this is definately not. Very reasonable, nice breakfast, loadsa choice, and if you want extra bacon, eggs etc then just ask, nothing is a problem.
Also a nice place to eat which isnt far, 5 mins, is The Cook and Barter. Good food, and friendly locals, as soon as we walked in people were talking to us....... would defo recommend . But i would book, it gets incredibly busy. Seahouses is quite a nice little place to visit, and you would normally get your boats from here to go and see the grey seal colonies etc and there is a great pub right on the front, cant remember the name now, but you cant miss it, its quite big but does a great lunch/dinner. And not to overpriced either. So, if you had any doubts whatsover about Alnwick Lodge, please dont, im quite an avid traveller so ive stayed in an awful lot of places and this one is really worth it. Enjoy!
