Booked at last minute so got a good deal. Doesn't look promising from the front but once inside it's much better. The room was large, clean and modern. We had dinner on the first night which was very hearty as was breakfast the next day. All the staff were friendly and helpful and made our stay very comfortable.
Excellent value, would stay here again

Booked hotel on internet Sunday because I had work in Alnwick on Monday. Got a call at 9.15am Mondday to tell me they had no room available so had to start trying to find a room for the night at 9.30. Be aware !

I stayed at the Oaks for just 1 night on business. I had an outside room which was a bit too dark and tired. Could do with a good refurb and more lights. Carpet had definitiely seen better days. I stayed for dinner and that was very good value, tasty with large portions. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The WiFi did not work in the room at all which was not useful for business. TV had limited channels. Pleased to report that the cooked breakfast was very tasty and well cooked, plus there were the cereal options and juices. Location was very good for the town, just a 10 mintue walk into the centre and castle. Overall, a fair place to stay.

I happened upon the hotel after a particularly heavy day's driving on my own. I thought the price for a single B&B was a bit hefty, but negotiated a more reasonable rate. I was desperate for rest in any case. I was impressed with the room quality - as good as I have found anywhere, let alone provincially. Food was good, if a little pricey again. The chef, however, needs to look at the definition of a pie - "A baked food composed of a pastry shell filled with fruit, meat, cheese, or other ingredients, and usually covered with a pastry crust." My "pie" was a bowl of (good) meat, in a rather thin gravy, with a piece of puff pastry, cooked separately, precariously balanced on top in a way the chef thought was culinary originality. All good quality ingredients but disappointingly cooked and presented. The bar had a couple of locals only in it so no atmosphere. I'd stay again, certainly if the prices were more realistic for today's recessive times.
