My partner and I had the twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom for one night, which was fine - however, the beds were separated so not as romantic as it could have been. Apart from that, the room was fine; very clean, with everything needed supplied. The breakfast was good, and Dean was a talkative, friendly host. Powburn village is a bit of a drive away from Alnwick, so we had our evening meal at the local pub, which had a cosy open fire and very generous servings of pub grub. At 65 pounds per room per night, this was a reasonable deal.

Found this b&b on Google and really glad we did! Accommodated our family of 4 with no probs. Found the location perfect for visiting all the local attractions. Dean gave us lots of suggestions of where to eat and where to visit which we were really glad of. We would certainly return! Breakfast was perfect too!

I have just returned from a three night stay at Cheviot View with a friend and was so impressed that I must share my experience with anyone who is intending to visit this area. On entering the guest house, you are immediately encompassed by a wonderfully cosy and warm feeling and you love it immediately. Dean was a great host and as he and Kay escorted us to our rooms, we just knew that we had chosen well. The dining room looked stunning with its classy decor and was luxuriously warm. The bedroom was spacious, tasefully decorated with lovely pictures, wonderfully clean white bed linen, comfortable beds and storage space sufficient for a much longer stay. A comfortable arm chair situated near the television and window meant I could either sit and admire the stunning view or watch a bit of television on returning from a busy day sightseeing.
I was impressed with the little extras - (Kay and Dean have thought of everything) - iron, ironing board, hair dryer, sewing kit, torch (!!!) and even a hot water bottle. Even the biscuits accompanying the tea/coffee making facilities were a 'cut above'.
The breakfasts were superb with great variety and very plentiful. Dean is genuinely interested in his guests and chatted happily after breakfast, advising us on good places to visit. He has obviously done his homework on surrounding places of interest.
Before leaving Cheviot View, Dean took us to the bottom of his garden to show us his impressive bird collection - an added bonus. His knowledge is amazing.
Cheviot View leaves you with a warm, comfortable feeling, whatever the weather. I would confidently recommend this lovely guest house to anyone who wants value for money, good food and classy, clean, warm accommodation. Hope to return one day.

Went with a friend and stayed for 3 nights and had a superb time. Accommodation, food and hospitality couldn't be faulted. The rooms and ensuites were spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, to as high a standard as you'd have at home- if not higher! House had a lovely homely feeling and we were made to feel very welcome and even though it turned very cold during our stay the house remained cosy and warm throughout. The layout of the room had been thought through carefully. For instance plugs were near dressing tables and mirrors so you could dry your hair comfortably. All the little extras that you usually take 'just in case' weren't needed ie. extra toilet rolls, hair dryers, scissors, torches. So it felt a real home from home. There was a great variety of choice at breakfast and plenty of it which set you up for the day and the surrounding area was a delight especially with the autumn colours. Dean was an excellent host - nothing was too much trouble - and we really enjoyed looking at his beautiful birds. We had a really enjoyable time and would thoroughly recommend Cheviot View, Powburn to everyone - a real home from home!
