First impressions of Tower were a little discouraging - but got better! Own parking at the rear is a big plus, but the route from there to our room involved entering by the back door, almost in the kitchen, negotiating our way past a cake/dessert display cabinet and a solitary table located in the dark behind a partition at the rear of the restaurant, then through a door and up narrow stairs to a room with a sofa but otherwise limited space for suitcases and no enclosed hanging space. But the place grows on you (we had 3 nights.) The range of dishes on the menu board, and for breakfast, suggests this is a chef with imagination, and he does not disappoint. "Early Victorian" porridge with whisky, served with muscovado sugar and cream, was rated best ever. Eggs Benedict was another item usually found only in much more expensive establishments. One niggle: coffee was "real" but made by automated machine and pretty thin, so serving it in a cafetiere leaves the customer feeling cheated. In the evening there was a really cosy atmosphere (if you avoid the table behind the partition at the back!), and food was again of a high standard. A nice touch in the rooms - bottled water replaced each day, as well as the usual instant coffee/tea/biscuits. Overall good value.

Stayed in Alnwick fir one night this was so much more than a b&b with the best breakfast I have ever had The room was a little small buttery clean and comfortablewould definitely stay here again

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend in August. Alnwick is a charming little town and the Tower is fabulously placed within walking distance of absolutely everything. Plenty of free car parking too.
We had booked a small double (which wasn't really that small as we're both almost 6") on the top floor. Thank goodness for all the stairs and walking as the food at The Tower was far too delicious to resist. The service was excellent, the staff were lovely and I would definitely return.
My only complaint was the shower, water never really got hot and the pressure was terrible. But really it was a non issue, i do kind of expect that on the 3rd floor.

stayed here for the weekend whilst visiting northumberland.alnick is a lovely little town and very handy for visiting alnwick castle and gardens and the surounding area. the tower restaurant and accommodation is very central and although we only had a small double room at the back it served our needs adequately ,.it had a comfy bed but as the room is only small it was quite warm even with the window open,something to note during the summer months,they do have larger rooms but when i booked it was the only room vacant but still would not put me off booking it again ,good private parking which is a bonus too, breakfast was superb nothing was too much trouble and the quality and content excellent the restaurant where you could dine for dinner was the same place as breakfast and open to the public after breakfast for lunch as well, the food was lovely and extremely well price and the service was excellent . all staff very polite and friendly all in all great place to stay at a very reasonable price for the quality you get. would deffinately recommend to all looking for a superb weekend like we had. will certainly go again as we havent finished with northumberland yet .
