“Never again”

Last review never published and complaint to head office totally ignored. Staff totally uninstrested in guests, room was not made up for our children we were told we had to pull out and make up beds and only two sets of towels.
Carpet was dusty bathroom floor none to clean and taps ect grubby, extractor fan not working
The sofa bed looked as if the kids might catch something and the trundle bed underneath was really poor.
Towels and sheets clean that goodness, water hot tea and coffee provided
Stay well way not even worth being paid to come here let alone paying them !

“Comfortable stay but beware of parking fines”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

Stay in this area occasionally on business. Usually stay at the travelodge on the opposite side of the A1 with the little chef. This time stayed at this lodge.
Room clean staff friendless.

Arrived and was asked for car registration. I gave this in & was told the system was down but I wouldn't get a fine. 2 weeks later I received a letter from a parking company in Luton with a fine. I called the travelodge & they said about 5 people who stayed the same night had received a fine & I would have to call the parking firm. I asked why they weren't contacting the firm for customers if they knew there was a problem as this would be good customer service. I did call myself & the fine was cancelled but it was an inconvenience. I would use travelodge again but not this branch only because of the inconvenience which followed.

“Thirty quid for a comfy night of unbroken sleep. Perfect.”

Lets get one thing clear from the start. I did not stay at the Ritz. Nor the Savoy. I didn't book in a suite at the Wynn in Las Vegas. Nor any other multi starred hotel in the world. I booked a £30 room in a Travelodge in a service station on the A1.

And what did I get? I got a very polite woman on the reception; I got a spotlessly clean room; I got a large comfy bed; I got a great view of rabbits and other wildlife from our window; I got a tv with lots of channels; I got a very good heater in the room; I got a decent sized bath and plenty of clean towels; I got tea and coffee and a kettle in the room; I got a good nights sleep. Which, really, is all I wanted. There's no negatives, here. I booked the room as a place to sleep and I got a very good nights sleep.

I rated this hotel excellent, as for the price, it was.

People who moan about hotels like this perhaps should dig a little deeper into their pockets and pay accordingly. I would certainly come back.

“Its what it is”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

I think some of the reviews on here are slightly unfair, we tend to stay in travel lodge throughout the uk a few times a year, we are a family of 4 with children 11 and 6, Quite simply the cost of 1 night was £50 for the 4 of us, the room was basic but, clean. It is fairly near the main A1 Route but, again for £50 for 4 was still great value. Theres a Little Chef just outside for anyone wanting to part with a small fortune for some burnt sausages.! Would I stay here again, yes I would.
