“It's a Travelodge!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

We stayed here for 1 night, due to it's close proximity to Catteric Garrison. The room was fine, just what you expect from a Travelodge. They aren't as nice as Premier Inns etc, but they are cheap & cheerful. We paid £12 for the room, so couldn't complain. We took earplugs, as we knew that at a service station, it would be noisy. The guy on reception was polite, TV worked well, room was warm & comfortable. I would stay there again, if the price was right. A point to note is that as you approach Scotch corner, this hotel is actually on Scotch Corner, opposite the Scotch Corner Hotel (there are 2 fairly close).

“Clean but Basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Room was clean. No problems with noise. Bed was too soft but that is our preference. Very basic - more so than other budget hotels - with no pictures only white walls.Only two small pillows but more provided when asked. One hard seat.
We only wanted it as a stopover for one night so ok but would not have wanted to stay longer and of course it was very cheap so cannot complain.Little in the way of restaurants beside the hotel but receptionist highlighted a pub about half a mile down the road which she said was good (we didn't visit so cannot comment).

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms may hear people above moving about

“for one night only”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

We booked about a month prior to staying here and got the room for £29 so for that price I don't suppose we can complain to much. It was however cold in the room when we arrived with no heating on and the window blind up which didn't help. The room was very bland, white walls, white bedding, white shades, white blind ect. A picture would have been nice just to break the white up a little bit, all that did that though was the dirty marks on the wall near the bed.
The bed seemed to slant towards the middle and the shower was very uninviting with dirty grouting.
For one night you could put up with it but for any longer i'd look elsewhere.

“Better than expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

We had been staying in Scotland and knew that we were going to be pushing it for time to get back home and so when I saw that this hotel was available for £10 on the day we were returning, I decided to book it. If we didn't use it, I would only lose £10. We were held up in traffic coming from the Tall Ships in Gourock and so decided to stay over. Although there is a warning on the site of noise from the A1, it was minimal and did not disturb us. The place could do with a little TLC but it was fine for a stop over. The bed was a bit tired and had roll together built in but we slept fine and felt it was £10 well spent.

It is a travel lodge on the main AI and that is exactly what you pay for and what you get. . We only paid £15 / room we will have to an excellent rating. The accommodation was even for a higher price still very good with every facility on site. no complaints at all.
