“Excellent Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2011

Me and my partner recently spent a night in Richmond (we actually stayed at a Travelodge down the road), and arrived around 8pm. We went to The Vintage Hotel for dinner, as it was just around the corner. It was the night after Valentine's Day, so was expectedly quiet. The member of staff who greeted us and attended to us during the evening was lovely! He was attentive, polite, and very friendly. He made us feel at home, and at ease. The food itself was gorgeous. I had the duck with orange sauce from the specials board which was mouth-wateringly good, and my partner had a lovely homemade steak pie. The homemade ice-cream at the end of the meal was divine! And the meal was great value for money.

“needs a refurb”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2010

Looks quite spooky from the outside in the dark. The manager is friendly and helpful. Our room ( no 1 ) was very small, they had tried to make the bedroom look modern, but it needs rippig out and starting again. There was some complimentary crisps, biscuit and water in our room - but the crisps were out of date !!
The bathroom is very very old fashioned and looks like it has had a lot of wear, I don't think that the room has been used for some time, as the blue toilet cleaing fluid was welded to the toilet. No sink in the bathroom, it was in the main bedroom ??!!
Did not try the breakfast but told that it was ok.

I was driving home from Newcastle and found the A1 southbound shut, it was late, I was tired and despite my son at home confirming online the Travelodge had spare rooms we were turned away with the comments "the computer says no". Just up the road we pulled into the Vintage Hotel and found that nothing was too much trouble. A very welcoming greeting, allowed to look at the room before booking and then a request "was it possible to get some food?" was greeted with a very positive "of course you can". At 10.30pm we didn't expect much, but our expecations were exceeded with a lovely meal.

A few drinks watching tv in the lounge and then bed. A family room with two singles and a camp bed if needed. The room was cold but the heater was put on and it was a comfortable night's sleep.

Its been a long time since I found service in a hotel that good and it was surprising as well as refreshing. Nothing was too much trouble and a basket of complimentary snacks was placed in the roon. Breakfast was available in the morning but we were up early to continue the journey home. We found this hotel by accident but were glad we did, cheaper than the local travelodge, a lot more character and great service. We will return when we next journey up north.
