“Consistently fab!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

Been visiting Thorneymire for a few years now and I am still amazed at the consistently high standard of accomodation Jane and Simon provide. Every aspect of the place is like a 5star Hotel from the beautiful bedrooms with comfortable beds and wardrobes that actually have plenty coathangers!!! Gorgeous white dressing gowns to slip into after a hard days walking and they even provide Radox to ease aching limbs as well as beautiful Molton Brown toileteries. The breakfasts are indescribable........just yum!!!!......Oh and you get a fresh pint of milk in your bedroom fridge not those little UHT cartons you get in Hotels.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful, the Garden room has facilities for the disabled

“THE place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

We first stayed at Thorney Mire Barn in March 2009 and I wrote a pretty detailed review at that time which you can see on here. Needless to say, two and a half years and a few visits later, everything is as fantastic as the first time and everything I wrote then still stands. I have since then been through pretty much everything on the breakfast menu (porridge is fab!) and each time we’ve had one of Jane’s light suppers on at least one night which are simply amazing. The latest addition are some red squirrels in the woods opposite which are really easy to see now the leaves have fallen. Looking forward to our next visit! If you are thnking of visiting the area, this is THE place to stay!

“Excellent is an understatement.”

I just can't recommend this B+B enough having spent another few days here. The hosts Simon and Jane make you feel so comfortable and at home, that from the moment you step through the front door we never want to leave.
The B+B is in a quiet location, no road noise being a big plus point for us. However it's still within easy reach of plenty of places to visit as well as having some lovely walks nearby which Simon and Jane will gladly give directions for.
The rooms are exceptionally clean and spacious with everything you could possiby need, comfy huge beds, large wardrobe, plenty of storage drawers, large mirror, your own quiet fridge with fresh milk and fresh fruit juice (topped up daily), a bowl of fresh fruit, flat screen tv and dvd player and don't get me started on the fab array of pamper goodies in the underfloor heated en-suite. If you add to this free wifi access for the business people who need to keep on top of their e-mails while away, together with the free choccies to munch on while doing so, I think you would be hard pushed to find any fault with this lovely B+B.
My top tip for staying here would be not to bother planning an evening meal out but to take up the option of having a three course supper in and experience the absolute mouthwatering delights of Jane's cooking. You will not be disappointed. Jane, your pie is now No 1 on our best eaten pie list -and trust me with my partner Con and brother-in-law Alan it's a long list.
Can't wait for next year -hopefully business allowing, we're going to try and make it a couple of times, once a year is just not enough.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent -you will not be disappointed with any. The Garden Room is located downstair...

“Superb - we will be back !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

My partner and I spent two nights here in November. This place is really as good as the reviews. we could not fault any aspect of our stay. Simon and Jane's attention to detail is incredible. We opted for a home cooked meal by Jane in our room the first night. It was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. Breakfast was absolutely delicious too.

we stopped in the Whatcroft room. it was beautiful. there was a fridge with fresh water from their own spring, milk and cordials. The bed.... awesome - i didnt want to get out of it !

We will definately be back next year.

Thank you for a nice relaxing stay Simon and Jane x

“Just perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

This was our second stay at Thorney Mire, we celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary here in 2010, our visit was so memorable that we decided that this would be our special place and promised ourselves we would return each year in the future.
I did share with trip advisor after our first visit about our stay as I wanted to acknowledge all the hard work Jane and Simon do in making everyone's visit so perfect.
Our return trip did not disappoint, after a very long and tiring journey it was so lovely to have such a warm welcome from Simon who greeted us at the door and helped with our luggage to our room, which was the 'Whatcroft' which I requested as this was the room we stayed in the previous year.

I would like to comment on a review I have seen posted by a Daisy Dais regarding the facilities in her room which I believe was the 'whatcroft' that we were in.

I would like to respond by saying that when I stay with Jane and Simon I never pack lightly as I can never make up my mind what to wear so end up packing for a week, with this in mind I was able to unpack all my things and my husbands as there is a large wardrobe with plenty of hangers that you can take out of the wardrobe to hang your things unlike those daft ones in most hotels that are non detachable. We had more than adequate draw space and as for the TV yes I agree its not a widescreen model but thats all that you can say against it, why do you need a full length mirror? There is a very large one on the wall which I am able to dress by with no problems, but then again we stay with Jane and Simon because they are such good hosts, and Thorney Mire is so much more than a B&B. Jane's evening suppers are like eating at a 5* restaurant, all guests are made so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast at Thorney Mire is all freshly prepared and made by Jane from the Muesli, the jams, the breads and her signature cooked breakfasts made with locally sourced produce. Breakfast in most B&B's we have stayed in is normally quiet and sometimes a little awkward but Simon and Jane are able to bring all their guests together making breakfast an enjoyable, relaxed and leisurely affair not something I have ever experienced before.

I wanted to respond to this comment as I could not disagree more with Daisy Dais remarks. Jane and Simon work tirelessly to make each and every visit as good as the last one, and I and 95 other reviewers have never been disappointed.
Simon, Jane and the Yorkshire Dales absolutely perfect.

Room Tip: All rooms at Thorney Mire are well equipped, with a fridge in each room containing fresh milk, squas...
