This was our second stay at Thorney Mire, we celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary here in 2010, our visit was so memorable that we decided that this would be our special place and promised ourselves we would return each year in the future.
I did share with trip advisor after our first visit about our stay as I wanted to acknowledge all the hard work Jane and Simon do in making everyone's visit so perfect.
Our return trip did not disappoint, after a very long and tiring journey it was so lovely to have such a warm welcome from Simon who greeted us at the door and helped with our luggage to our room, which was the 'Whatcroft' which I requested as this was the room we stayed in the previous year.
I would like to comment on a review I have seen posted by a Daisy Dais regarding the facilities in her room which I believe was the 'whatcroft' that we were in.
I would like to respond by saying that when I stay with Jane and Simon I never pack lightly as I can never make up my mind what to wear so end up packing for a week, with this in mind I was able to unpack all my things and my husbands as there is a large wardrobe with plenty of hangers that you can take out of the wardrobe to hang your things unlike those daft ones in most hotels that are non detachable. We had more than adequate draw space and as for the TV yes I agree its not a widescreen model but thats all that you can say against it, why do you need a full length mirror? There is a very large one on the wall which I am able to dress by with no problems, but then again we stay with Jane and Simon because they are such good hosts, and Thorney Mire is so much more than a B&B. Jane's evening suppers are like eating at a 5* restaurant, all guests are made so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast at Thorney Mire is all freshly prepared and made by Jane from the Muesli, the jams, the breads and her signature cooked breakfasts made with locally sourced produce. Breakfast in most B&B's we have stayed in is normally quiet and sometimes a little awkward but Simon and Jane are able to bring all their guests together making breakfast an enjoyable, relaxed and leisurely affair not something I have ever experienced before.
I wanted to respond to this comment as I could not disagree more with Daisy Dais remarks. Jane and Simon work tirelessly to make each and every visit as good as the last one, and I and 95 other reviewers have never been disappointed.
Simon, Jane and the Yorkshire Dales absolutely perfect.
