We have just returned from another excellent weekend at Dalesbridge. Ovver the years I have stayed in the house on a B&B basis, camped and stayed in the four and six bedded bunkhouses.
Dalesbridge caters for the outdoor person, and this is also reflected in the B&B, so yes there may be a bit of dust and a lack of 'quality toiletries' in the shower room, but when we stayed we had a good nights sleep, in a decent ensuite room with an very large cooked breakfast.
The bunkhouses are, by bunkhouse, standard on the luxury side!! The 6 bunk rooms have a seating area, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and an assortment of crockery and cutlery ( not always 6 of everything!). Yes there are cobwebs and the shower room is a little dated but the water is hot and the bunks are comfy. There are also picninc tables outside, so you can BBQ etc .
It can get a little noisy at times with traffic from the road and other groups can get rowdy but generally noise is kept to a minimum after 11pm.
There are showers and toilets also available on the camping field, which we occasionally use if there is a queue!!
If you dont fancy cooking, there is a pub in the nearby village - but is overpriced and the food wasn't very good last time we went. Settle is near enough and has pubs, cafes, Indian restaurants and fish n chip shops.
Dalesbridge is the ideal place for friends to have a good time together at a resonable cost. It is comparable in price to a Youth Hostel and at Dalesbridge you get your own toilet and cooking facilities!! The owners had no qualms about us 'dressing' up a bunk house for a '50' party and are friendly. The setting is perfect for the Yorkshire Dales with plenty of activities from the door, walking, show caves, biking.
Can't wait for our next visit.
PS - forgot - there is a bar on site as well.
