“Brilliant birthday party venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2011

18 of us (plus 2 babies) had a brilliant time at my 30th at the Lincolnshire Oak. The staff members were really helpful and polite, and the afternoon tea, dinner and cooked breakfast were delicious. The staff had gone out of their way to set up the dining room beautifully for an elegant evening. They were also very helpful with the babies, providing travel cots and high chairs. We all had a super night - thank you.

“Bitterly disappointed, very rude staff!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010

After looking at the website, I was very excited about staying at the Lincolnshire Oak. Instead I was left bitterly disappointed - Not worth the price tag.

Our room was tiny, dated and grubby. The bathroom had mouldy taps and the shower leaked.

The kettle in the room was full of limescale and looked as though it had never been cleaned.

The breakfast included over-cooked eggs and bacon and some strange fried potatoes that were dripping in grease.

The woman at reception was incredibly rude and arrogant . We paid for our room through last minute.com, but when we came to check out, the receptionist claimed that we hadn't paid and tried to charge us again. I showed the receptionist the receipt from lastminute.com, which showed we had pre-paid for the room. However she maintained that we still hadn't paid, addressing us in a very patronising manner.

The manager was not available at our time of checkout. But we are following up separately with our complaint. The payment issue is still not fully resolved.

An utter shambles, rude staff and tired rooms.

I'd recommend staying at the B&B in Ancaster where our friends received excellent service.

“The shameful thing about this hotel is...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

The shameful thing about this hotel is for 87 pounds you can get a modern room or an outdated one. My room was the latter, very tired and in poor condition with only 4 channels on the TV. My colleagues room was very different so I was disappointed that the same save was applied. Staff were pleasant but this place feels like a cheap bed and breakfast which cannot justify the price tag. The first night I was there the power went out and although the staff were not to blame they didn't apologise for the resulting fire alarm chaos when the power came back on. It felt to me that they didn't really care. I won't be staying here again.

I can understand the guest's annoyance with the long power outage on the day that he stayed, since I was also staying at the hotel as well. The power did not come on until late in the evening when most guests had gone to bed. Unfortunately the length of the power cut caused the batteries in the fire alarm to run down and when it was reconnected the alarms sounded several times. The manager was called in from his home to reset the alarms by which time it was gone 11pm.

We have now finished the recoration of all the rooms and all have flatscreen TVs with multiple Freeview channels.

“A good place to stay”

I recently stayed for two nights and was pleased that the rooms have been refurbished. Nice quality furnishings, good food and I slept well.
