“Fundamental Flaw”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Price ok. (£69 single occupancy of a double with breakfast) Good location for town centre. Well-cooked breakfast. Clean room. All the ingredients are in place for a reliable hotel except for a fundamnetal missing element...a comfortable bed.

I stayed in room 14 and had a dreadful nights sleep simply because the mattress should have been replaced about five years ago. All the above commendation counts for nothing if you can't get a good nights sleep.

Upon checking out the following morning I gave my comments to the receptionist. Surely I can't have been the first to notice??

Room Tip: Avoid (the current bed) room 14 at all costs!!

“JUST OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011 via mobile

Attended an evening function. The location is not great and I was a little worried about the security of the car. The food was ok, nothing more or less. The bar area was quiet on a Saturday night and quite cold. All in all, ok but I am not sure we would visit again and it did not seem to have the ambience I expected.

“Our friendly stay at the Wortley Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011 via mobile

On the 19th Nov we stayed at The Wortley House overnight due to us attending a wedding there. The Wedding started at 2.30 and check was at 2pm. A phone call the night before was made and explained the wedding etc. They agreed to let us check in at 12noon, this was brilliant. We booked a suite as it was the last room available £120. The suite was next door to the Hotel only 1min through the carpark. We walked in and was amazed at the size of the place. It was a flat, self contained a full kitchen, it was great. We were able then to relax and get ready for the wedding. Before the evening party again we were able to go back to the room to freshen up etc. My husband and I had a good night sleep in the huge superking size bed. The suite was a pleasure to stay in. You had your own heating system and could set it to what ever temperature you wanted. The service from the staff was excellent always a friendly face and very curtious when speaking to me and others. Breakfast next morning was scrummy, we both had a full english and could have as much as we wanted. Plenty of variety of cereals, yogurts, toast. The rooms which were used for the wedding were all perfect, very very clean. The toilets were also. Would I recomend anyone to stay yes I would.

“Good hotel for price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I stayed at the hotel for two nights on business and found it very acceptable for the price. The reception area looked a bit dated but the bar area was ok. The room was also clean and spacious and had wifi in the room which I did not expect. . The food in the hotel was basic but very tasty especially the haddock and chips. There was also real ale at the bar. The breakfast was good and served quickly. The staff were helpfull and friendly. Its location was also ok to allow a quick walk into the town.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 55

“Good decent place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011 via mobile

The area in which this hotel sits doesnt look to grand and i didnt expect much, but the staff were really friendly and the food was basic fare but tasty. I stayed in one of the suites - these were a bit sparse, but had all the usual things a room would have with its own kitchenette, fridge, microwave etc. It was very roomy and clean with a big bed. Sofa bed would be a bit small and there's only one sofa (sleeps 4 , but seating for 2).

Very good wifi signal which is free. Many guests seemed to be frequent customers which must say something.

This hotel has a good selection of various sized conference and function rooms. I quite liked it here, basic but good.
