“Middle Flass Lodge..A perfect retreat in the Ribble Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

We have just returned from an overnight stay at Middle Flass. We, and our friends have stayed here many times over the last few years, and hope to return for many more. We always strive to arrive within the given time frame and have been welcomed warmly by Joan & Nigel (with tea and cake) on all occasions.

Middle Flass Lodge is a family run Guest House with restaurant...Not a large Hotel...The rooms are spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well equipped.

When we stay we always eat in the restaurant because it is so good, the choice varied, and Nigel's chips are just the best ever!!

And so to breakfast. This is cooked to order by Nigel. Everything is fresh and delicious, and again, lots of choice on offer.

Thankyou Joan & Nigel for a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we look forward to the next..

“Do not stay at this place, if you are not a resident you will get ripped off and treated badly!!”

We arrived at middle flass lodge With an over exuberant lady whom at first seemed polite. However, after asking questions about the rooms and prices (as they did not reflect or agree with the prices on the website) she became very obnoxious and off hand. We then told her that we would look elsewhere first and will probably back. She basically told us in so many words that she didn’t care and we would definitely not find anything anywhere else and it was our problem.

A very clean place but the rooms are far too pricey for what they are and it appears they make food prices up as they go along which also appear far too over priced.

Very disappointed with the attitude of the lady who dealt with us as we where only polite and honest. I would never recommend this to a friend!!!

“pooor soundproofing, small bed, unhelpful host!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

We stayed here for a bike race, I would not stay again . Location was convenient but that was all it had going for it. I have stayed in a lot of B+B's and usually find them comfortable and much nicer than a hotel.... not here!

Our double room was 68.50 would have been OK if paying anything less than £40. It was small, the bed was too small for 2 people (although we are reasonably tall we arent 'big'). That said, it was at clean which is good and if you like TV there was a tele in the room.

To start off my dislike of this place, we arrived and were shown upstairs (ushered out of the way as they had guests dining in the room infront of the door). Shown to our small room and asked to fill out breakfast request slips- she asked 'what time would you like breakfast'.... we asked if it would be possible to get this early explaining we had to be out early to register for a race, and she said 'how early' we said half 7 and she said No, sorry breakfast is from 8 - 9.

On the website 'meals' page it states under the time slots for service 'Earlier or later by arrangement ie: when travelling' we thought that requesting breakfast at 7.30am which is only half an hour before their '1 hour window of opportunity' would be OK, it always has been in the past at B+B's (usually the attitude that flexibility is important when running a b+b) - especially when charging 68.50 for a very small double room!! Anyway, our host would not accommodate, not even 7.45am - just 15 mins early... She said 'no, we cant go making breakfast any time people ask for it'. She was stubborn and unhelpful and I began to get annoyed! We eventually negotiated that she would provide some cereal (2 small variety pack boxes and a piece of fruit were bought to us on a tray) not the ideal set up for a day's racing. We felt like we were causing her the greatest inconvenience anyone has ever suffered, a lovely way to feel when you are a paying guest at a bed and breakfast. We werent asking for anything too outrageous, and nothing that usually is friendly and happily accommodated with no fuss or bother.

The second reason I wouldnt stay is the TOTAL LACK OF SOUND PROOFING!!! Stable style doors which are about 1cm thick dont insulate sound, and it appears that the dividing walls are paper. We were kept awake for several hours with our neighborouging room jabbering away and brushing their teeth, flushing the toilet etc you could hear everything :S

The third is the tiny bed. It was a queen sized bed I think, not large enough for 2 of us :)

Shame to be writing a bad review, but I was pretty miffed about it! Certainly not the usual B+B from Farmstay which is where i found it.

“Pleasant stay at Middle Flass Lodge”

We stayed at Middle Flass Lodge when attending a local wedding, and enjoyed stop. The rooms are lovely (we stayed in the annex), and we slept well. We ate out both nights, so can't comment on the evening meals. The lodge is in an attractive countryside setting.

Breakfast was delicious. The only criticism of the whole place I would have is that breakfast was only served between 8-9am, which (for us) is a little early on the weekend. We would, however, happily return.

“Fantastic!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2009

Myself and my boyfriend booked Middle Flass Lodge for a weekend getaway. We wanted somewhere to relax and escape the stresses of work and buying a house! Nigel and Joan were very welcoming from the start, both meeting and greeting us on arrival. The lodge is stunning and is set in miles and miles of countryside. We were shown to a double en-suite in the annex building to the right of the main lodge. The room was perfect, very clean and equiped with everything you could need for a weekend break.
The food is amazing...Nigel is a very experienced chef and the menu reflected this. Both Nigel and Joan are there to tend to your every need when dining...We started our days with a full english, cooked with local produce. Bookings for evening meals can be made at breakfast time and also met the fantastic standard shown in the morning. The stuffed mushrooms, lamb, steak and sweets can deffinately be recommended!
This was a very memorable weekend away for all the right reasons...we will definately be visiting again in the not too distant future!!! Thanks Nigel and Joan for a super weekend. Helen & Ste, Manchester
