“Nice B&B, great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2011

Stayed here one night while on business, the room was a decent and the bed was comfortable - however I had a room at the front and the road outside was a little loud in the morning. The rooms are above the pub but there was little noise from below.

For my evening meal I had a chicken and pineapple balti and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time, the cooked breakfast was also very good.

Whalley is a very nice village and is a good base for exploring the local area.

“Over priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

We stayed here for one night while cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats. When booking I asked if there was a secure place to store our bicycles. When we arrived there seemed to be confusion as to where we should put our bicycles. We were then shown to a yard full of bottle bins, that was not ideal for the bicycles. The room was a good size and nicely decorated with a good size bathroom. It was clean too. Breakfast was a bit basic and portions were small. It is advertisied as a Hotel, however I would describe it as a pub with guest accommodation. At £75 I though it was expensive for nothing very special and a very basic breakfast.

“lovely staff and fresh rooms”

When I checked in at The Swan Hotel I found the staff to be very helpful, welcoming and always with a smile on their face. The food was very good. The rooms were light and fresh however the hallway is in need of a little TLC. The village is charming and a cafe called 'Number 51' was perticually nice. Overall a wonderful stay and I would definately return.

“village hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2008

8 adults stayed at this charming village hotel for a week-end 27 &28 june 2008.
bedrooms modern & spotlessly clean.
breakfast very tasty & served with a smile, would have prefered breakfast be served later than 7.45 to 8.45,maybe we should have gone to bed earlier but with all the local pubs staying open till 1.00a.m. it might have been our fault.
plenty of places to eat with-in walking distance, give the indian restaurant TRISHNA a try we all thought it was fantastic.

we will all go back to this hotel next year for another week-end break.

  • Liked — central village location
  • Disliked — breakfast times ,bedrooms could do with air conditioning or fans
