“Run Down Old Splendour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We had to pull into the hotel due to bad weather and were met by a very unfriendly receptionist who really couldn't be bothered. Our hotel room had a huge crack down the wall and white stains on the floor near the bed. For a 4 Star Hotel we were incredibly disappointed and the star rating should be lowered. The hotel isn't maintained well and everything seems to be in a bad state of repair.

“Perfect!”

So my situation may be different, but I got married at this hotel 7 weeks ago. From start to finish the customer service was out of this world and second to none. They could not do enough for us and our 3 day stay at the hotel was just perfect. The wedding was perfect and it was truly down to their amazing staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
I also had my hen do there with 20 friends in October 2011, again the customer service was out of this world!

“The most welcoming arrival ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

It was late when we arrived so there weren't many guests around, we had a superb welcoming. Very accomodating for the children. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We booked room only (2 adults and 2 children) and the room was massive. We normally go B&B but thought we'd try the local breakfast cafes and this worked out very well for us (no pressure with two 9 yr olds!) although the food in the hotel did smell and look very good. Very good value for money. We would definitely go back here again- staying in the executive wing.

Dear Guest

I am sorry that you experienced issues with noise during your recent visit. We do try to allocate rooms so that guests not attending functions are placed in the quieter parts of the hotel. I am not sure why you were not looked after in this manner. Please accept my sincere apologies. I will follow up with the team in the next couple of days to ensure we resolve the issue. I hope that you may give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future.

Yours sincerely

“The police came as the hotel suspected I was a fraudster !!! Last time I spend money here !!!”

Well what can I say about the dunkenhalgh hotel.

First of all I would like point out the positive aspect of my stay ............

It was near the motorway!

I went to the bar with a client and a friend as we needed to discuss our diaries, we purchased drinks and sat in the unrexlaxed and awkward bar of the hotel.  After 30 minutes of so I popped along to the toilet, my first impressions of the toilet were terrible as there was no hand towels or anything to dry your hands after washing them and used hand towels where slung over in a corner, it obviously hadn't been cleaned for a few hours.

I took my jacket off in the cubicle and hung it up on a make shift and wobbly coat hook, after a few minutes as just as I was in the process of finishing I stood up and the lights went out in the toilet, this resulted in me slipping and almost falling hand first into a used toilet !!!!

I had to use the torch on my phone to find a roll of toilet paper as there was none on the holder and had to hold my torch while I used the paper!!!!!!! This resulted in me nearly dropping my phone down the loo.

As you can imagine I was furious and extremely embarrassed, I would expect this in a faulty towers type hotel but not in a hotel of this calibre.

I promptly reported this to the reception and she apologised, can I ask you to think how embarrassing that is to have to report this to a female member of staff !!!

Despite this I decided to stay and booked a room.

We continued to drink and spend money in the bar, we decided to have more drinks upstairs and ordered room service - throughout the evening i spent almost £200!!

I must point out there was no noise coming from the room, however the staff thought it be best to call the police as they suspected fraud as I used my debit card to pay for my evening !!!!!

The police came to my room and detained me for 30 minutes before they could confirm my identity !!!!!!!

One word - ridiculous !!

Dear Guest
The police were called and responded by going to the guest bedroom. On returning to the front desk they agreed that we were justified in having some suspicions.
