“Home from home with well thought out extra touches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2009

My partner & I stumbled upon this lovely B&B through fate. After getting no luck with clean looking B&B's with an en-suite in the town centre we walked further out to a Premier Inn. Luck was on our side to find out that the Premier Inn was full and we found it to be quite expensive!
We were recommended by the Premier Inn to contact Longreach House which luckily had vacancies.
What a lovely, clean, luxurious room with an en-suite with lovely home from home touches.
Christine the proprietor made us both feel instantly welcome and we had a lovely stay our only down fall was we wished we could have stayed longer but our plans did not allow for that!
The breakfast spread catered for all your needs from fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, croissants and much more.
We would definitely return when we visit Whitstable again and recommend this B&B to our friends and family.
We felt this B&B was excellent value for money compared to other B&B's in the area. We are not fussy people but enjoy clean home comforts and Longreach House met all of our needs and much more.

“At best average.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2009

We stayed at the longreach B&B for one night during a stay in Kent and we were wholly underwhelmed by the experience. On the plus side, the rooms were clean, the shower was very good and it was inexpensive, however, our room was also very hot, noisy (particularly if you opened a window in an attempt to cool down) and lacking certain key features such as bedside lamps?! We had just spent a couple of nights in a lovely B&B in Canterbury (Amanda House) which was so much better it didn't help in comparison. Also paying up-front for your accommodation does not make you feel particularly welcome.

“Excellent Value, would definitely recommend it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2009

We stayed for five nights whilst visiting family, upon arrival we could not have asked for a warmer welcome, the room was clean and well presented with all the things you could need including an excellent shower. The breakfasts were lovely (significantly better than some V. expensive hotels we have stayed in in london). The only minor downside was some noise from the nearby thanet way although this is only audible with the windows open and even then it was no worse than many city hotels. Overall I would say this is a cracking little b&b which is excellent value at just £60 per night including breakfast and one which we would have no hesitation in recommending.

“Very noisy and breakfast disappointing”

we have rent 2 twin rooms at 50£ eachwhich were clean but they were smelling. The landlady was not talking a lot and not helpful when we asked her if there was some good restaurant in town.
During the night, the house was very noisy (You can hear when someone is going to the loo) so I advise to bring with you your earblocks. Continental breakfast is served and there is not a big choice of sweet foods.

“Average B&B near Whitstable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2007

We spent one reasonable night in the Longreach B&B on Easter weekend 2007. We hadn't heard about this B&B, but were put there by the Premier Travel Inn across the road because of a problem with our room. The B&B is alright, not as bad as an earlier review suggests. It is just outside Whitstable, on a busy road near a roundabout. Not a particularly romantic location and quite noisy, but fine for a night away. On the whole, our stay was not unpleasant. We received a double room near the road, with nice burgundy and yellow decorations and a big ensuite shower room. The proprietor was friendly, though we were left to phone for our own taxi into town. We paid £50 up front for the room by credit card, and another (refundable) cash deposit of £10 for a key. Next time we're in Whitstable, we'll try another location because of some inconveniences. Most importantly, we didn't sleep very well because we found the mattress to be uncomfortable (we agree with the previous reviewer in this respect) as it was too soft, and the room to be too warm. The bathroom had a (closed) door to some adjoining room. With the walls being thin, this didn't make it feel private. Smaller points are the lack of a reasonable mirror in the bathroom, the lack of bedside lamps and waste basket in the bedroom, poor TV reception, and a shower that dind't stay hot long enough for two people. We can't comment on the breakfast at this B&B, as we received a complimentary one from the Premier Travel Inn.
