Spenta night at the Bell in Sandwich. Excellent food, Rooms done to a very high standard. Friendly and helpful staff. Worth a visit - only thing we found was it was very hot

We booked the Bell Hotel as a base to visit friends and were not disappointed, The standard of service was excellent, the staff were very friendly, polite and accomodating. We had diner in the hotel on one night, which was extremely good quality. We will definately stay again and would like to thank all of the staff for making our 3 night stay enjoyable.

After an efficient but rather formal greeting we found to this to be a lovely hotel. The staff was always helpful and efficient. We thought dinner here was special and the English breakfast was better than average. Again the waiting staff was superb.
The bedrooms depend on which number you get, hence the varied reviews. Ours was number 14 which was bigger than most with a large sitting area and a big bathroom with bath tub. It was rather under lit. It was underneath the family room and although we did not see the family there were children stamping on our ceiling non-stop from 5 until 6.30PM which was to be our siesta time. We stayed on a Saturday night and there was a very loud reception with amplified music going on at an inn opposite until 9 minutes past 12 in the morning after which we went to sleep.

This hotel has recently been bought by a large brewery. To continue to charge these prices they need to plough finance into the hotel. Certain areas need tweaking:
Bedroom furniture not good
Bedrooms not planned well - no mirror over dressing table- no shaving light in bathroom
Poor quality toiletries
Windows need replacing or renovating - draughts everywhere- bathroom freezing
Duvets to fit the beds
Bathrobes should be provided
Bigger TV in a large room
Corridors - decor not good - looks quite shabby
Whats that odour on entering the hotel?
Something needs to be done to the bar - so uninviting and always nearly empty. No ambiance.
Trying to charge boutique hotel prices which they are not.
Very overpriced.

Food good (especially breakfasts!!)
staff excellent - friendly, polite amenable - can't do enough for you.

I would'nt visit here again as I was quite disappointed. However would probably recommend with reservations.
