“OK - but don't stay here in winter”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We stayed here on 15 January 2012, location and staff are great. The only problem was no heating was on! Check in is 3.00pm we arrived after that - had a couple of drinks in the bar (with a convector heater on) and was advised the heating came on at 4.30pm - it didn't in the bedrooms or the communal areas. This was a weekend when the temperature was about freezing. Eventually we were moved to a room where the heating had been turned on, and we had been given a couple of convector heaters. The room was fine and the staff were helpful - but the hotel, or chain, needs to decide whether to open and take bookings or close and save money. Due to the room temperature, not quite the afternoon planned!

“great little over night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We stayed here in november 2011 on a stop over to france, this hotel is right on the sea front, and our room was over looking the sea, which at this time of year was wild and quite wonderful, our son had a little room upstairs from us with an ajoining bathroom which was lovely, our room had everything which you could need, including a hospitality tray.
We had a drink in the bar area, and had a very plesant cup of coffee before a bracing walk by the sea.
We did eat in the hotel resturant in the evening and you can chose from indian menu or english. I had the indian which was delicious and my husband and son ate from the english, my son had a mighty grill, and my husband a salad, i had onion bajahi and biriani which was wonderful, can recommend this i booked dinner bed and breakfast so we had our meal in the cost which made it very well priced indeed, we had to leave prior to breakfast so can not give any guide to this.
Can highly recommend as a pleasant and friendly stop on the way to france.

Room Tip: have one over looking the channel wonderful

“Nice, Comfortable Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We stayed overnight here with our son in a lovely family room with fantastic views. This is an old hotel, basic but is very well kept, spotlessly clean and run by pleasant, friendly staff. Breakfast was traditional and very good. The situation right next to the beach with a full panorama view of the channel is excellent.

“very good value and location but very dated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

We have just had a great two night stay here. Payed £60 a night for bed and breakfast which with the sea view room is great value. Room was clean and functional.Only bad point was no hot water at 17 30 ish but was asked to wait 10 minutes and then there was plentyful hot water!!
Staff were friendly and polite. The whole hotel is a bit dated but somehow seems to work, remember the price and the 70's decor and especially the carpets are bearable. This Hotel is well situated but will need updating very soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

“Tired hotel with no atmosphere.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

The 'jack of all trades' Manager of this hotel is a pleasant man who seems to run the place with hardly any help, he obviously works very hard but the whole place could do with some serious upgrading. The smell of old carpets hits you as soon as you walk through the door which is a bit off putting, however the rooms were clean and the bed was comfy despite the pillows being wafer thin and the duvet being old.
Breakfast left a lot to be desired with a limited choice of cheap yoghurt's/cereals/sliced bread. There were no rolls or croissants. You could also choose to have a cooked breakfast but the presentation and quality was severely lacking and I wouldn't recommend it.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms on 3rd floor are best views.
