I stayed at The Buxton Inn back in the eighties and was very satisfied with the place, unfortunately that left me with high expectations for a return visit. The staff in general seemed disinterested in us. At first glance our room, granger, seemed nice. Then we started to notice the inconsistencies. For a place that prides itself on its age, the plastic battery clock from walmart and the cheap bathroom light fixture didn't really fit in. The toilet seat finish was worn off and the bathroom walls really needed a new coat of paint or at least a washing. On the second morning, my partner went to open his towel and was surprised when a clump of dried hair, not his, fell to the floor. I have to agree that breakfast at The Buxton is not a memorable affair , a Best Western does a better job. On the second morning we were headed into the inn when the lady at the front desk curtly asked if she could help us. We were told breakfast was in our rooms. we found styrofoam containers in the fridge, the contents appeared to be leftovers from the day before. Needless to say, we won't be returning.
