“New Life”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

The Fishbourne, as it is now known ,is under new ownership as of October 2011. It's been cleaned up, smartened up and updated and it is highly recommended. As a local resident I haven't stayed there but I've seen the rooms which are crisp, clean and very nice and I have booked three as an 'overflow' this Christmas.

Have eaten there a couple of times - the food is simple, well cooked and delicious. Good specials board and they offer the option of smaller portions for those without such a hearty appetite.

They deserve to be a success.

“Good Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

We dropped in for Sunday lunch during a walk from Haven Street to Fishbourne (and back!). Cheery welcome from polite staff. We had a pleasant table in the conservatory - it's more of a restaurant with a bar rather than a pub.

Food: One plate of ham egg and chips, the other a trio of Isle of Wight sausages with mash and onion gravy. So, simple pub food. The quality of the ingredients was very good and well cooked.

Service: very quick and friendly.

Conclusion: nothing ground breaking, just good food, service and value in a pleasant environment.

“Disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

Having booked well in advance and paid a deposit of £80 (for 4 adults) we arrived as requested after 2.30 pm to find one room not cleaned or made up, the other room with hairs of dubious origin within the sheets, we obviously complained. When we returned our room was made up sadly the other room sheets had not been changed towels were heavily stained, shower broken, very noisy. Open the window and you are hit by large cobweb We decided not to eat in there for an evening meal, when we came back at 10pm that night the place was deserted except for bar staff.
Breakfast. When employee's arrived they had to go shopping to buy ingredients!
We had to ask for tea refills, milk was from a 2 ltr jug for cups of tea.
We made the decision not to stay a further night and were charged £40 to cancel. The Fishbourne Inn is run down in serious need of investment, gutters blocked and broken and in need of of good clean to windows which were green. All the staff are unmotivated, disinchanted, slovenly.
The Inn is unkept, unclean, unloved, unprofitable, such a shame as it could have massive potential to be a thriving venue ideally situated but with its current situation not a hope in hell.
Would I recommend someone to stay here absolutely not,

“Red squirrel alert”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

Fishbourne is a very busy ferry terminal with big ferries disgorging over 100 cars every 30 minutes onto Fishbourne Lane. But turn left at the terminal and you soon come to the Fishbourne Inn which has excellent bedrooms, great food and is in a very quiet location. You can see red squirrels from your bedroom window or if you walk further down Fishbourne Lane there's a green with oak trees and a shingle beach. I could sit and watch the ferries all afternoon. Excellent value for money and very friendly staff.
